Assistant Professor, Animal Morphogenesis The Department of Cell & Systems Biology in the Faculty of Arts & Science at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full‑time tenure‑stream position in Animal Morphogenesis. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2026. Responsibilities Develop and maintain a vigorous, innovative, externally funded, and independent research program focused on applying cell biological approaches to fundamental questions in animal morphogenesis. Employ cutting‑edge approaches in imaging, mechanobiology, and/or systems biology to address questions of tissue morphogenesis during animal development. Teach undergraduate and graduate courses, develop curriculum, and supervise graduate students and research assistants. Provide service to the department, university, and scientific community including peer review, committee work, and outreach. Qualifications Ph.D. in Biology or a related field (e.g., Molecular & Cellular Biology, Systems Biology, Synthetic Biology, Developmental Biology, Genome Biology, Genetics, etc.). Minimum of two years of postdoctoral experience. Demonstrated excellence in research, evidenced by publications in top‑ranked journals, a research statement, evidence of peer‑reviewed funding and strong reference letters. Demonstrated excellence in teaching, evidenced by a teaching dossier, teaching statement, sample course materials, and evaluations or other evidence of superior performance. Strong record of collaboration and ability to secure external funding. Compensation Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
