Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) – X-ray & CT Join the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), one of the world’s largest and most respected paediatric healthcare centres, to deliver outstanding care and imaging services to children and their families. About the role As an MRT in our X‑ray & CT department, you will produce high‑quality diagnostic images, ensure patient safety, and support clinical decision‐making in a fast‑paced, child‑focused environment. Key Responsibilities Produce optimal images on physician request, following established guidelines and standards. Review patient clinical information from requisitions or physician conversations; determine appropriateness of requested studies. Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with hospital guidelines. Accurately document all patient and exam information in the digital record. Stay current with emergency procedures, infection control, and universal precautions. Provide comfortable, safe care for all patients, including those with fractures, tubes, or drainage devices. Adhere to radiation safety policies, applying the ALARA principle. Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth workflow within the department and across patient programs. Safely operate and maintain all imaging equipment; report and document equipment failures. Update knowledge of equipment changes, protocols, and policies through communication books. Maintain quality control procedures per departmental standards. Assist with orientation and training of new staff. Teach student technologists and provide performance assessments. Attend seminars and lectures to maintain professional knowledge and meet CMRITO quality assurance requirements. Required Qualifications Completed an accredited Medical Radiation Technology program (B.Sc. or diploma). Registered with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO). Member of the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT). Strong technical skills and understanding of cross‑sectional anatomy. Excellent problem‑solving, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to work effectively with children.
