Electrical Engineer

Overview Electrical Engineer role at WSP in Canada. This position is part of the Water & Wastewater Facilities Electrical Team located in Thornhill, Ontario. You will be part of a growing team, applying your engineering experience to design and partner on major infrastructure projects in Canada. Responsibilities As an Electrical Engineer, you will be an integral part of our dynamic electrical team and work on the design of power distribution, control systems, communication networks, lighting, fire alarms, and security systems for water and wastewater facilities. Prepare compelling proposals, technical memoranda, design reports, and detailed electrical specifications to showcase your writing skills. Engage in project collaboration and meetings with design teams, clients, consultants, and contractors at various stages. Collaborate with local utilities and other key players to ensure seamless project execution. Work with equipment manufacturers and suppliers to integrate essential design data into drawings and specifications. Participate in construction services, including shop drawing reviews, handling RFIs, change order assessments, and on-site inspections. Conduct engineering analyses and electrical system studies (arc flash, short circuits, coordination studies, life cycle assessments, and construction cost estimates). Perform site surveys, gather field data, and conduct condition assessments. Manage project challenges, including budgets and schedules, and address unexpected issues. Review design documents to ensure compliance with engineering standards, codes, and best practices. Facilitate collaboration between design and construction teams. Mentor junior staff to foster growth and development. Be prepared for a dynamic role that may include additional duties as assigned. Qualifications Electrical Engineering Degree Experience: 5–10 years in design projects across Ontario and Canada Credentials: valid Professional Engineers License from PEO Codes and Standards: familiar with OESC, OBC, IEEE, ASHRAE, CSA, OHSA Tech Savvy: AutoCAD, MicroStation, Revit; 3D modeling and municipal infrastructure project experience Project management: proven track record coordinating, managing, and delivering projects on time Analytical mindset: strong problem-solving abilities Communication: strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with clients, consultants, and contractors Writing: ability to produce proposals, meeting minutes, technical memoranda, and reports Leadership: capable leader, calm under pressure, proactive in tackling challenges Independence: ability to work autonomously and deliver designs on client-driven deadlines About Us WSP is one of the world\'s leading professional services firms.
