Project Description And Background The successful candidate will join an established team of staff and contract resources within the organization’s Business Technology Services (BTS) division. Solution Architect (6 Month Contract) Location: New Westminster, BC / HybridStaffing Placement Opportunity The Solution Architect aligns technical solutions with the enterprise IT strategy, plans, and business goals by ensuring solutions meet both functional and non‑functional requirements. This role operates within the guidance of enterprise architecture strategies, roadmaps, and programs. The primary assignment is to provide technical leadership for the Realtime Transit Information Systems (RTIS) program , a major initiative aimed at providing best‑in‑class real‑time transit information for customers of all ages and abilities. The program’s goal is to make real‑time information the new standard, improving accuracy, reliability, and trip‑planning confidence to support customer satisfaction and increased ridership. Additionally, the Solution Architect will support Product Teams within the Analytics and Development (A&D) Department. These teams manage a range of products, including: Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) solutions Financial and Supply Chain Management (FSM) systems Fare product systems Custom software solutions Customer‑facing products (websites and notifications) Real‑time information and prediction systems SERVICES Design and implement customized technical solutions by focusing on solution‑level decisions and assessing their impact on overall business goals. Ensure all solutions align with enterprise standards and architectural direction. Provide advanced expertise throughout solution ideation, design, and implementation. Own and govern Solution Design Documents, ensuring alignment with Enterprise Architecture and overall IT strategy through regular stakeholder collaboration. Support the development of a solutions architecture program, including roadmaps and departmental architecture plans. Communicate essential design elements to ensure business implications are understood. Assist Enterprise Architecture in establishing application architecture and adopting standards. Review business context and define solution lifecycle requirements. Recommend potential solution options (e.g., RFIs, RFPs, proofs of concept, prototypes), select optimal approaches, and develop implementation roadmaps. Identify and recommend solutions, upgrades, replacements, or decommissioning options based on productivity, usability, and cost of ownership. Develop solutions that reduce time spent on reactive work. Champion a structured approach to business application solutions, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and advocating for changes to standards when necessary. Communicate solution designs to stakeholders and coordinate with domain architects on the adoption of IT standards and procedures. Support implementation of architectural elements for application projects across related IT programs. Assist Strategic Planning & Governance teams with solution management and financial planning for application initiatives. DELIVERABLES High‑level and detailed architecture designs aligned with enterprise architecture and IT strategy Conceptual, logical, and physical diagrams, integration points, and technology playbooks Technical runway and delivery timelines Deployment strategies outlining progression into production environments Organizational readiness assessments for scope and implementation Identification of technical, commercial, and schedule risks in vendor proposals prior to contract approval Detailed documentation of integrations, data mappings, and workflows Interoperability support across platforms and compliance with security standards Participation in architectural governance and design reviews Contributions to formalizing IT security and architectural standards Knowledge & Experience Proven IT solution architecture experience (required) Minimum seven (7) years of progressive experience in a client‑facing solution architect role, ideally within IT services Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline Advanced knowledge of solution architecture principles, methodologies, and practices Strong technical expertise across areas such as: Cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft Azure: VMs, storage, AKS, App Service, Service Bus) Design patterns, microservices, containerization Microsoft .NET SQL databases Cybersecurity Web frameworks Emerging technologies (e.g., Artificial Intelligence) Experience mentoring and coaching teams on architecture concepts and methodologies Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to guide stakeholders and build critical enterprise relationships Advanced analytical and problem‑solving abilities, including conflict resolution and evaluating alternative approaches Solid leadership skills with the ability to influence and guide both direct and indirect teams Strong planning, organizational, and time‑management skills with the ability to balance competing priorities Industry‑recognized certifications are considered an asset Seniority level Mid‑Senior level Employment type Full‑time Job function Engineering and Information Technology Industries IT Services and IT Consulting #J-18808-Ljbffr
