Tasks Include Department Management Oversee the day-to-day operations of the produce department. Ensure that the department is well-stocked clean and organized. Develop and implement procedures for efficient department management. Assist with merchandising receiving product rotating product and organizing product in the backroom and cooler. Staff Supervision Recruit train and supervise produce department staff. Schedule employees and ensure adequate coverage for all shifts. Monitor staff performance and provide feedback or coaching as needed. Inventory Control Manage inventory levels and ensure that the department is adequately stocked. Monitor product quality and freshness removing any expired or damaged items. Place orders for produce and coordinate deliveries with suppliers. Merchandising and Display Create visually appealing displays to attract customers. Plan and execute seasonal promotions and special displays. Ensure that all products are properly labeled with prices and product information. Customer Service Address customer inquiries and resolve any issues or complaints. Assist customers with product selection and provide information about produce. Ensure that the department provides excellent customer service at all times. Budget and Financial Management Manage the departments budget and control expenses. Monitor sales and adjust inventory levels based on demand. Analyze financial reports and take corrective actions as needed. Compliance and Safety Ensure that the department complies with all health and safety regulations. Implement and enforce food safety and sanitation procedures. Conduct regular safety inspections and address any potential hazards. Collaboration and Communication Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth store operations. Communicate with store management about department performance and needs. Participate in store meetings and contribute to overall store strategy. Qualifications High school graduate or equivalent combination of education training and experience Minimum 2 years produce / supervisory experience which includes excellent product knowledge and rotation merchandising ordering and inventory control experience Superior customer service supervisory and communication skills Proven ability to remain calm under pressure Capable of standing for a prolonged period of 4-8 hours; of bending twisting and turning and reaching; and of lifting up to 65 pounds Must be fully available (days evenings and weekends) The responsibilities and relationships assigned to this role may change as is necessary to achieve Metros business objectives.
