Job Title Associate Director, Field Medical, MRG (CNS / Rare) / Directeur(trice) adjoint(e) des opérations de terrain, CNS / Rare Location Quebec (Any City) or Ontario (Any City), Canada Overview Johnson & Johnson is seeking a dynamic Associate Director of Field Medical to lead, mentor, and develop a high‑performing team of Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) focused on CNS and rare disease therapeutic areas. The role reports to the field medical leadership and is responsible for executing the field medical strategy, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration. Responsibilities Develop and oversee the field medical plan; ensure its execution and alignment with the global therapeutic strategy. Engineer excellence in execution of MSL teams, including leadership, coaching, and career development. Recruit, onboard, manage performance, and nurture a diverse MSL workforce. Design and deliver scientific and technical training; provide mentorship and coaching to support professional growth. Ensure consistent and compliant alignment of MSL activities with non‑medical field roles and company directives. Maintain compliance with all local regulatory requirements and global policies and guidelines. Administer the allocated field medical budget. Develop strategies to build MSL competencies, focusing on career paths and internal advancement. Promote the Credo values by fostering a supportive, inclusive, and high‑performance environment. Lead the evolution of the MSL role to surpass industry best‑practice standards, implementing policies that mitigate operational and regulatory risks. Continuously assess the market to identify trends and inform innovation initiatives. Represent Canada in regional and global initiatives aimed at enhancing MSL effectiveness. Collaborate with cross‑functional partners at headquarters to bring field medical insights into broader strategies. Communicate field insights, medical education needs, and actionable items to leadership and internal partners. Report on MSL team achievements and provide updates to appropriate internal stakeholders. Identify and drive broader organizational or cross‑functional strategic initiatives as defined by senior management. Qualifications University degree in science, pharmacy, or a health‑related field (minimum) with significant therapeutic‑area experience. Ph.D. and/or MD preferred. Minimum three (3) years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with the majority in medical affairs. Proven ability to build and develop high‑performing teams. Strong knowledge of GCP, IMC code, and healthcare compliance policies and procedures. Experience working in an environment governed by SOPs. Strategic thinking with a track record of rigorous project execution. Excellent communication skills when engaging KOLs and non‑specialists. Strong analytical skills with the ability to present data clearly and concisely. Critical thinking, project management, and influence in decision‑making with stakeholders. Scientific acumen and a clear understanding of global regulatory requirements. Demonstrated initiative, multitasking capability, and follow‑through in a field‑based role. Experience in product strategy development and implementation. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with CRM tools such as Veeva/iConnect is an asset. Preferred Experience as an MSL and/or Medical Director. Additional experience in medical education or communications. Knowledge of CNS (bipolar, schizophrenia, major depressive disorder) and/or rare disease (pulmonary hypertension, myasthenia gravis). Bilingualism in French and English is an asset. Field‑based management experience with two (2) years of people‑management experience (unless exceptional alternative experience exists).
