This role focuses on supporting BAS design, programming, and commissioning while providing technical expertise to optimize HVAC system performance. We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive individual with expertise in building automation systems, HVAC controls, and building performance optimization. The role will include configuring, programming, and troubleshooting BAS platforms, monitoring and verifying system performance, analyzing data to identify energy savings opportunities, and supporting the integration of new automation and reporting tools. Learn more at Watershed.ca. • Location: Remote (or Hybrid 2 days per week if you live in Toronto area) • Salary: $65,000–$75,000 per year, based on skills, education and experience. Responsibilities Prepare BAS drawings using Visio (or similar drafting software) Develop BAS graphics from mechanical schematics Program control sequences from written sequence of operations and assist with remote system commissioning Review bid documents to identify BAS-related scope of work Assist with cost estimating and proposal preparation Analyze BAS trend data to optimize and troubleshoot HVAC systems Provide BAS technical support via phone and email Requirements At least 3 years of full-time work experience with BAS. Strong understanding of light commercial HVAC systems, including boilers, pumps, chillers, and ventilation units Proficiency in preparing drawings with Visio or other drafting tools Hands-on experience programming and commissioning BAS systems Familiarity with Niagara 4 platform (required) Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail Strong communication skills for supporting clients and internal teams remotely Strong understanding of Prompt Engineering in AI LLM's like ChatGPT and Grok. Education & Qualifications Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Automation, HVAC Technology, or Building Systems Engineering. Equivalent combination of technical education and hands-on experience in BAS or HVAC controls will be considered. Additional certifications in BAS platforms (e.g. Niagara, Johnson Controls, Siemens, Honeywell, Schneider, Delta, Trane, etc.) are an asset. Knowledge of energy management principles, building codes, and control strategies preferred.
