Overview Job Title Psychiatrist Work Site Vancouver General Hospital Status Permanent Start Date To be mutually agreed upon Compensation Type Combination About the Role Join to apply for the Psychiatrist role at Vancouver Coastal Health . The psychiatrist will evaluate, diagnose and provide inpatient treatment for patients aged 17 and up with serious psychiatric disorders. The psychiatrist works with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive clinical services, with a strong knowledge base in psychopharmacology and psychotherapy. The role includes involvement in innovative treatment interventions and participation in the training and education of medical students, residents and other allied health professionals. Active participation in academic activities and clinical care is expected. A good knowledge of community resources is required. All physicians in Vancouver Acute participate in on-call duties. The Inpatient service is part of the Joseph & Rosalie Segal Family Centre on the VGH campus, delivering patient-focused care with evidence-based treatment tailored to individual needs. The clinical program integrates biological treatments (pharmacotherapy, ECT) and psychotherapy. Reporting Relationship The psychiatrist reports to the Head and Medical Director, Department of Psychiatry, Vancouver Acute through the Medical Manager, Inpatient Services. Education, Licensing, & Experience Current College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC) – Mandatory Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC) – Mandatory Eligibility for a clinical faculty appointment with the UBC Faculty of Medicine Demonstrated ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary mental health team Commitment to participate in new methods in health improvement and care delivery Experience with a general psychiatric disorders population of varying complexity Experience with academic psychiatry Publications in academic journals (preferred) Candidates must meet Vancouver Coastal Health credentialing requirements Interested in applying?
