Our client is a major firm specializing in project management for clients. They are currently looking for a cost controller to work on current and future projects in Canada. The person will be responsible for the implementation of control procedures, from the initiation phase to the completion of the project. The cost controller is also responsible that all cost activities, including change management, are reported and tracked accordingly.

Main responsibilities:

  • Support in monitoring the Project performance, activities progress, verifying and reviewing progress and cost reports.
  • Understand the project resources requirements, review manpower curve and act to prevent any resource constraints.
  • Prepare and issue monthly status reports providing critical analysis of progress status, trends and potential problems as well as identifying corrective action.
  • Review contractors’ monthly payment certificates and submit to Project Manager for final approval.
  • Receive, review, assess and document any request for change from contractors in accordance with contractual agreements and project procedures.
  • Establish and implement change order control system and procedures for contract management and scope change.
  • Follow-up on project incurred costs (commitments and actual costs).
  • Support the Project Manager in preparing, controlling, and minimizing scope variations on contracts.
  • Manage risk management register.
  • Record details of commitments following the initial award of contract / purchase orders, including the registration of amendments and change orders,
  • Update the overall project forecast of direct (contracts, purchase orders, etc.) and indirect costs, as well as project contingency on a monthly basis, following reviews with key stakeholders.
  • Update the Management Reserve monthly following a review and agreement with the Project Manager.
  • Prepare Commitment Approval Form while presenting a Recommendation to Award for a Purchase Order or Contract.
  • Review of budget and forecast during the Commitment Package Close-out process.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Civil Engineering.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a cost controller role, in an EPCM environment on industrial or mining projects (light or heavy).
  • Experience working with PRISM G2 is a plus.
  • Excellent knowledge of engineering controls, cost control, project accounting, and project reporting.
  • Knowledge of procurement/contracts, construction management, and scheduling.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to manage and make decisions.
  • Strong communicator.
  • Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel, is required.
  • Knowledge of Primavera, SAP.
  • Bilingualism is essential, as the role requires frequent daily communication with colleagues in Ontario, as well as with colleagues from various departments at our headquarters in the United States.

Notre client est une importante firme spécialisée dans la gestion de projets pour ses clients. Elle est actuellement à la recherche d'un contrôleur de coûts pour travailler sur des projets en cours et à venir au Canada. La personne sera responsable de la mise en place de procédures de contrôle, de la phase d'initiation jusqu'à la fin du projet. Le contrôleur de coûts est également responsable de la déclaration et du suivi de toutes les activités de coûts, y compris la gestion des changements.

Principales responsabilités:

  • Planifier et organiser la gestion et les contrôles du projet
  • Participer aux prévisions, à la ligne de base de contrôle des coûts et aux délais
  • Supporter les projets en cours avec l'analyse des coûts, les rapports, les prévisions, la budgétisation et la gestion du changement
  • Préparer des rapports de coûts mensuels et des relevés des coûts-heures et des progrès du travail (budgets, prévisions, dépenses, engagements)
  • Exécuter les procédures de gestion de changement et veiller à ce qu'elles soient suivies tout au long du projet
  • Émettre les mises à jour budgétaires et les flux de trésorerie du projet.
  • Préparer les prévisions, les rapports sur les tendances des coûts et suivre les prévisions de coûts et de budget
  • Surveiller et faire des rapports sur les répercussions financières dû aux changements
  • Assurer le respect des procédures de qualité en matière de contrôle de la documentation
  • Établir et maintenir des relations avec les clients
  • Surveiller la conformité de la santé, de la sécurité, de la réglementation et de l'environnement
  • Coordonner les efforts des différentes parties prenantes
  • Travailler avec les coordonnateurs de contrats sur les budgets des contrats, les paiements progressifs, le processus de fin de mois, les variations des contrats, ainsi que la clôture des contrats.
  • Surveiller la qualité globale des produits livrables
  • Soutenir l'équipe de gestion pour s'assurer que le projet respecte le budget approuvé.
  • Diriger, former et encadrer une équipe de contrôleurs de coûts

Qualifications requises :

  • Baccalauréat en génie mécanique, industriel ou civil
  • Au moins 5 ans d'expérience dans un rôle de contrôleur de coûts, dans un environnement EPCM sur des projets industriels ou miniers légers ou lourds.
  • Expérience de travail avec PRISM G2 est un atout.
  • Excellente connaissance des contrôles d’ingénierie, du contrôle des coûts, de la comptabilité des projets et des rapports sur les projets.
  • Connaissance des achats / contrats, de la gestion de la construction et de la planification.
  • Excellentes aptitudes analytiques et attention aux détails.
  • Réflexion stratégique. Capacité de gérer et de prendre des décisions
  • Un bon communicateur
  • Capacité de travailler avec des équipes pluridisciplinaires
  • Connaissance approfondie de MS Office, en particulier Excel est obligatoire.
  • Connaissance de Primavera, SAP
  • Bilinguisme essentiel car le poste exige d’avoir des communications quotidiennes fréquentes avec nos collègues de l’Ontario, ainsi qu’avec nos collègues de différents services du siège social situé aux États-Unis
