Who You Are We are seeking a skilled Senior IT Application Specialist who can contribute to our growth and deliver results. A successful candidate will have superior analytical and problem‑solving skills, high internal client satisfaction standards, and timeliness. What You’ll Do The Senior IT Application Specialist is responsible for the design, configuration, implementation and maintenance of Geotab’s IT application systems, and for maintaining a secure and highly available application environment. You will identify and implement features, functions and AI capabilities to support internal client business plans. The role includes investigating and troubleshooting complex application issues, identifying improvements to existing applications, and communicating these to the appropriate teams. How You’ll Make an Impact Understand how your work fits into Geotab’s ecosystem, take initiative, and propose team projects that resolve problems. Own design, planning, execution and testing for projects, enhancements and break/fix issues. End‑to‑end responsibility for designing, implementing and maintaining application lifecycle. Work with your team and adjacent teams to solve problems; escalate issues that have wider scope. Establish relationships with various teams to troubleshoot issues and develop long‑term solutions. Design, configure, implement and maintain applications and service requirements while researching best practices. Lead and participate in projects as a technical subject matter expert. Analyze new functionality in application releases to determine how it should be used. Plan, coordinate and test upgrades for enterprise applications, recommending improvements as needed. Work closely with business owners to understand business needs and manage user expectations. Perform daily health checks to detect issues and minimize downtime. Performance tuning to maximize potential and ensure high availability. Identify and resolve medium to highly complex production problems. Provide advice and recommendations on technology directions, security policy and roadmap. Lead in-depth analysis of problems and implement corrective actions. Lead knowledge‑transfer sessions, mentor peers. Create and maintain SOPs for application portfolio and technical documentation. Write and maintain automation scripts, leverage configuration management to increase system efficiency. Maintain application monitoring and alerting capability. Apply knowledge of Docker containers in production. Manage global Active Directory infrastructure. Manage Google Workspace within Geotab’s corporate system. Maintain Mobile Device Management (MDM) solutions. Manage Zero Trust Architecture. Prioritize multiple requests, projects and activities under pressure. Participate in an after‑hours on‑call rotation. Support Geotab’s global strategic initiatives. What You’ll Bring to the Role 5‑8 years experience with cloud platforms and run‑time architecture. Advanced knowledge of ChromeOS, Windows and Linux OS installation, configuration, troubleshooting and maintenance. Experience evaluating, selecting and implementing AI‑driven solutions and automations. Understanding of machine learning concepts and their business application. Ability to integrate AI tools with existing IT application systems. Advanced knowledge of SSO methodologies (SAML & LDAPS). Strong programming/scripting skills – Powershell, Python, Bash, etc. Expertise in managing and supporting Linux‑based environments. Experience with Google Cloud, AWS and Microsoft Azure. Experience with Zero Trust Architecture. Ability to work well under pressure and respond to fast changing priorities. Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong team‑player who can engage with all levels of the organization. Technical competence with software programs including Google Suite for business. Entrepreneurial mindset and comfortable in a flat organization.
