Take attendance, ensure participants are signed in and out of the program. Set up and take down recreational, program and other equipment as required, ensuring it is safe and in good repair (report all malfunctions immediately and remove damaged equipment). Actively participate in recreational swim daily, while ensuring a safe aquatics experience for children. In collaboration with individual program members, program volunteers and YMCA program staff, assist and encourage program members to access additional appropriate programs offered at this location. Perform other related duties to fulfill commitment to quality programs for all members as assigned by supervisor. You Bring: Current certification in Lifesaving Society Standard First Aid and CPR level C. Experience working with children and youth in a recreational setting (asset). Minimum age of 16 years. Well‑developed interpersonal and relationship‑building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with members, staff and volunteers. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and building a sense of belonging. Flexibility regarding assigned working hours, including weekday mornings and afternoons throughout the Winter and March Break.
