We have a bold vision to ensure everyone in our communities feels connected and cared for, and we are excited to be expanding our team to help us accelerate our impact We\'re Hiring We are now accepting applications for a Child, Youth and Family Counsellor to work in our Supported Connections Program in the South Okanagan. The Supported Connections Program provides practical parenting support and education for parents of children ages 0-19 involved with / referred by MCFD Child Protective Services. Hours / Schedule Full-Time, Permanent, 35 hours per week. Responsibilities Child, Youth and Family Counsellor (CYFC) provides therapeutic support and guidance to enhance parenting skills, address barriers to reunification, reduce risk of harm, and strengthen parental capacity to adequately care for their child. Conducts assessment and service planning interviews with referred children, youth, parents / caregivers and other service providers to establish service goals based on identified needs. Provides coaching, education and support to parents based on their identified service needs and priorities. Provide Supervised Access Visits when the Supervised Access case load requires that. Works with clients to identify natural supports, improve self-care, health and general functioning, manage stress, reduce family conflict, and overcome concerns contributing to distress. Provides crisis-management and critical incident de-briefing as required, including after-hours support. Provides support, education and encouragement to families engaging in needed community services. Works to support the Best Interest of the Child (or youth), within the context of healthy family relationships and a supportive community. The Best Interest of the Child, in this context, will provide a touchstone for decision-making, individualized service planning, integrated case management, and resolving conflicts or complaints. Applies culturally safe and agile, trauma informed, relational and person / family-centered modalities. Preferred Education and Experience The Ideal candidate will meet a minimum of one of the following combinations of education and experience : BA-CYC / BSW + 2-years related experience BA + 3-years related experience To be successful in your role, you\'ll also need Be well-versed in trauma-informed care and issues related to family violence, including domestic violence and the effects of domestic violence on children. Be familiar with family law processes regarding custody and access. Be familiar with MCFD operations and service policy in protective family development programs. Have experience working in a coaching and support capacity with parents. Have a strong understanding of strengths-based family systems, attachment-based support and child development. Be skilled at establishing trusting relationships with children, youth, and families. Have experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Other Requirements Given the nature of our work, please note that all shortlisted candidates : Need a valid BC Driver\'s License, regional insurance, and a reliable personal vehicle. Must Undergo a screening process, including a criminal record search. Wage / Benefits 29.75 - $31.25 per hour based on experience and education. Upon successful completion of a probationary period, full-time employees (minimum 20-hrs per week) are eligible for a full benefit package (including dental plan, vision coverage, life insurance, extended medical coverage, long-term disability plan, and RRSP or TFSA contributions). New full-time employees are eligible for 3-weeks paid vacation to start, as well as paid sick days as described in agency policy.
