Full-Time Indigenous Cultural Program Coordinator

Pay Grade 9 - Job #0992 - $32.51/hour

The workload for this position is thirty-five (35) hours per week, ten (10) months of the year with layoffs during the Christmas, Spring, and Summer Breaks.

Under the general supervision of the Director of Instruction - Indigenous Education and Equity and District Vice-Principals of Indigenous Education, the Indigenous Cultural Program Coordinator will provide classroom teachers with Indigenous resources, work with Indigenous Advocates to provide cultural materials and presenters as well as organize, plan, set up and participate in cultural events.

Applicants must have:

- Grade 12 plus 2 years of post-secondary education in culturally relevant courses;

- Thorough understanding of the Indigenous Culture and history with awareness of cultural protocols;

- Demonstrated experience working with the Indigenous community, Indigenous students and their parents;

- Ability to model cultural teachings;

- Experience working with budgets;

- Strong organizational skills;

- Demonstrated ability to work as a team member;

- Excellent knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office products (e.g. Word, Outlook, Excel, Power Point, and SharePoint);

- Respectful understanding of Okanagan protocols and teachings;

- Preference may be given to Indigenous applicants of Métis, First Nations and Inuit ancestral descent who can demonstrate knowledge of and commitment to, Indigenous culture and ancestry.
