Overview Senior Backend Software Engineer - IdLCM at Cerby. Cerby is a cybersecurity company focused on security for teams and applications, enabling autonomous use of their own technology while maintaining security. We support end-user onboarded applications to reduce cybersecurity risk by empowering users to select their own technology and automatically protect those applications. As a Senior Software Engineer on the Identity Lifecycle Management (IdLCM) team, you will design, build, and deliver features that power Cerby’s IdLCM product. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality, secure, and user-friendly solutions, contributing to a strong engineering culture and reliable software delivery. What You'll Do Design and Develop: Build scalable, high-performance software solutions that align with business goals and deliver customer value. Collaborate: Work with product managers, engineering managers, UX designers, and other engineers to deliver software solutions that improve customers' security posture. Teamwork: Mentor teammates and collaborate across teams and functions. Qualifications Experience: 3-6 years of professional software engineering experience. Technical Expertise Experience designing, developing, and maintaining scalable SaaS applications in a high-performance startup environment (prior experience in high-growth venture-funded SaaS startups preferred). Experience with RESTful web services and distributed, event-driven, event-sourced systems. Experience with queuing systems (SQS or similar) and event streaming (Kafka or similar). Knowledge of cloud and IT security practices (e.g., zero-trust, encryption; OWASP Top 10). Familiarity with security standards and protocols: SCIM, SAML, OIDC. Knowledge of Identity and Access Management (IAM) and the cybersecurity industry. Proficiency in Python, Go, or equivalent; cloud platforms (ideally AWS); distributed data stores (S3); relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL); and key/value stores (Redis, DynamoDB). Experience with container-based workloads (Docker, ECS) and writing unit, integration, and system tests (Pytest); observability tools (OTEL, DataDog). Software engineering practices: Iterative development, CI/CD, collective code ownership, refactoring. Architecting modular, decoupled software and maintaining build tools and CI/CD pipelines. Problem-Solving Strong analytical and problem-solving skills focused on delivering high-quality solutions. Communication Skills Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly, in writing and verbally.
