As the Medical Physicist, you will play a key leadership role to ensure the provision of high quality, safe, and efficient imaging services. Working closely with clinical practitioners, medical physicists, operational leaders, Radiation Safety Officers, researchers, and academic leads, you will support clinical services, provide quality assurance, perform equipment commissioning, and ensure high standards in the development of new techniques and protocols. You’ll have the opportunity to work with some of the best and brightest within your field, conduct research, publish papers, and teach and mentor future clinicians in DI and MP excellence. Members with of the Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine (MCCPM) certification can expect a salary ranging from $143,875 – $192,536; Fellows of the Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine certification can anticipate a salary of $166,474 – $222,780. Description: The Medical Physicist (MP) is a key leadership role responsible for supporting clinical services, quality assurance, commissioning, and development of new techniques and protocols. This position is clinically accountable to ensure the provision of high quality, safe, and efficient imaging services through quality assurance, quality control, and acceptance testing for imaging equipment, ancillary support equipment, and providing leadership and direction in the radiation protection program. In this role, the MP ensures high standards for DI imaging policies, processes, procedures, and systems for service delivery to patients within their scope of responsibility. Reporting to the Diagnostic Imaging (DI) Director, Quality, Safety and Education, the MP will establish and maintain vital partnerships with clinical practitioners, medical physicists, operational directors/managers and supervisors, Radiation Safety Officers, researchers, and academic leads. The ideal candidate will complement the existing clinical, teaching, and research programs of the team. The Medical Physicist will have the opportunity to participate in academic endeavors including, but not limited to; teaching, developing original research programs in collaboration with other physicists and/or multidisciplinary teams, providing regular contributions to medical physics research in the form of abstracts, presenting at local/national/international conferences, and in peer-reviewed publications, and supervising trainees in research. In addition, the successful candidate will have the opportunity for a concurrent University of Calgary appointment. Required Qualifications: The successful candidate will possess a PhD or equivalent in Medical Physics or Medical Health Physics. Additional Required Qualifications: A minimum of 1-3 years of experience in the imaging and clinical physics aspects of Nuclear Medicine (NM), Positron Emission Tomography (PET), Magnetic Resonance Imaging and/or Mammography. A demonstrated commitment to high clinical standards, and strong interpersonal and leadership skills. A minimum of 3 years leadership/management role in an organization of significant size, complexity, and diversity. Experience in teaching adult learners is an asset due to the academic involvement of this role. Preferred Qualifications: Certified by the Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine (CCPM), American Board of Radiology (ABR), or other related equivalencies are preferred. Consideration will be given to those eligible for CCPM. Specialization in Nuclear Medicine and Positron Emission Tomography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging and/or Mammography an asset.
