Senior Software Engineer, Data Platform (Platform Product Group) Remote - Canada Data Engineering, Kafka, Data Pipelines, Backend Development, Cloud Data Warehouse Join Coinbase and help build the future of the onchain platform We are seeking a passionate and driven engineer to join our Data Platform team. As a key member, you will design, build, and operate systems to centralize Coinbase's data, making it accessible for analytics, machine learning, and end-user experiences. You will contribute to all aspects of our systems, from foundational processing and data storage to building scalable pipelines and developing tools for efficient data access. Responsibilities: Design, build, and operate foundational data services, including cloud data warehouses, data lakes, orchestration tools (Airflow), batch processing (Spark, SQL), streaming services (Kafka), query federation and caching, time-series databases, graph databases, and real-time event aggregation stores. Build and maintain data integration & process SDKs for internal services and product teams. Design and build self-service applications to empower users to manage and troubleshoot data pipelines. Design and build services for end-to-end data security and data observability, including access controls, data quality tracking, data cataloging, and usage auditing. Convert functional requests from data analysts, ML, and security & compliance into reusable and scalable patterns. Requirements: 5+ years of experience in software engineering. Strong Python, Go, or Java backend development skills. Experience with data systems or data pipelines. Familiarity with design patterns such as scale-out, caching, key/value, and columnar. Proficiency in SQL, Python, Airflow, and BI for data analysis. Nice to Have: Crypto-forward experience, including familiarity with onchain activity. Competitive salary ranging from $191,000 to $191,000 CAD. Target bonus, target equity, and comprehensive benefits (medical, dental, and vision).
