The Department of Justice is seeking qualified candidates to fill the newly created role of Deputy Director for its Legal Services Branch within the CrownLaw Division. Legal Services Branch (LSB) is the Government of Manitoba’s full service in‑house civil law office of about 100 staff, including 70 lawyers. It provides a complete range of high quality legal services to all government departments, and to agencies, boards, commissions and corporations that do not have their own legal counsel. LSB’s work enables the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Manitoba to fulfill the constitutional and statutory responsibility of Chief Legal Advisor to Government, and as the guardian of the public interest respect to matters of civil law. This results in a varied work experience that is unique, challenging, and highly engaging. Deputy Responsibilities: The Deputy, working in close partnership with the Branch Director, will share responsibility for the overall management of the Branch and its legal work. In addition, the Deputy will take the lead in implementing the Branch’s strategic vision, overseeing the articling student program, and maintaining strong client relationships.
