We publish case studies, produce public education materials, host webinars, and support research that strengthens the retrofit sector. We’re looking for an Executive Director who is comfortable leading and doing—someone who can manage subcontractors and budgets while also writing, researching, developing communications, and building relationships. About one-quarter of the role focuses on leadership and oversight, while the remainder involves hands‑on project delivery. What You’ll Do You’ll guide Retrofit Canada’s work and contribute directly to project delivery. This includes managing contractors, supporting research, producing communications, and coordinating public education activities. A key focus for this role will be to secure additional funding for Retrofit Canada. Leadership and Oversight Monitor progress, deliverables, and communications. Report to the Board on priorities, risks, budget, and performance. Represent Retrofit Canada at events, conferences, and policy tables. Lead fundraising, including grants, sponsorships, and partnerships. Manage subcontractors and consultants across all projects. Education and Resources In collaboration with experts, develop and publish guides, tools, and educational materials. Write and edit content to ensure clarity and accessibility. Manage web publishing through WordPress and other platforms. Research and Outreach Manage research grants and support reporting. Lead data analysis with academic and industry partners. Support stakeholder events and represent the organisation externally. Communications Publish a newsletter and maintain public communications. Write clear, engaging reports, case studies, and articles. Manage social media and digital marketing to grow engagement. Produce deep retrofit webinars on a monthly or bi‑monthly basis. Operations and Reporting Manage budgets and track expenditures. Prepare and submit funder reports and financial claims. Who You Are A strong communicator and clear writer. Organised, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple priorities. Adept at identifying funding opportunities and following through. Collaborative and able to build strong relationships with partners and contractors. Skilled at balancing leadership responsibilities with hands‑on work. Your Qualifications At least five years of experience in program management, communications, building science, research, sustainability, or a related field. Proven ability to support fundraising and donor engagement. Experience managing projects, contractors, and budgets. Strong writing and editing skills for technical and general audiences.
