About The Role Grade Level: 11 Role: Senior Associate, Client Coverage / Sales in Canada Team: The North American Client Coverage team is a dynamic sales force responsible for licensing index data and managing the intellectual property of S&P Dow Jones Indices. They forge strong relationships with clients, identify new index customers, and expand the commercial influence of S&P Dow Jones Indices across their designated territory. The team collaborates with a diverse range of financial entities, including investment banks, asset managers, ETF issuers, market data consumers, insurance companies, proprietary trading firms, and exchanges. Manage and expand relationships with key data redistributors, support revenue growth, and align S&P DJI’s premier index data with client needs and strategies to enhance business retention. Responsibilities Formulate and implement a comprehensive business plan for clients within your designated territory. Develop expertise in understanding, articulating, and differentiating index data packages. Contribute to team and global new business sales goals by prioritizing work and meeting or exceeding annual individual sales targets. Expand the commercial footprint by strengthening existing client relationships and prospecting new licenses. Identify and negotiate the license of new intellectual property opportunities for investment product usage. Manage complex contract negotiation and execution; develop usage rights and appropriate commercial terms. Identify, evaluate and prosecute unlicensed IP/data usage in your territory. Provide focused and excellent service to existing products/billing/client queries within assigned client base. Collaborate with specialists (fixed income, sustainability, models and direct indexing) to provide insights and better serve clients. Travel to meet clients and represent S&P Dow Jones at industry events throughout the region. Brief leadership on licensing activity and competitive landscape in asset management. Develop the sales skills of junior members and inside sales team. Basic Qualifications Proven leader in applying product knowledge, design, and industry input to increase and differentiate index licensing. Demonstrates results‑oriented behaviors and actions related to agility, accountability, commitment, grit, and customer focus. Successful in long‑cycle and abstract/conceptual sales, complex contract negotiation, and intellectual property sales. 5‑10 years of experience in commercial roles in financial services with drive and integrity. Team player able to bring together resources in Product Management, Marketing, Channel, and Sales to address client problems. Fluency in ETFs, mutual funds, SMAs, UITs, and collective trusts. Awareness of key investment trends (indexing, volatility, factor investing, sustainability, ESG, multi‑asset class, direct indexing). Strong communication, writing, and public speaking skills with a personable and persuasive approach. Bachelor’s degree required; MBA, CFA, or certification holders considered favorably. Compensation / Benefits S&P Global estimates a base salary range of $90,000‑$140,000, based on geographic location, experience, and other factors. The role is eligible for an annual incentive plan and additional company benefits.
