Department Manager - Franchise at No Frills Location: Smithers, British Columbia, Canada Key Responsibilities Assist the franchise owner in store operations to ensure that the store runs smoothly in both the back and front of the store. Train and motivate staff and create a positive working environment to ensure execution of plans and strategies across the store and assigned areas. Effectively merchandise advertising and promotional programs to maximize corporate brand advantage and stay up to date with market trends and competitor activities. Coordinate the receiving, handling and storing of product to achieve optimal results and utilize shipment reports, exclusivity reports and head office flash reports to ensure overall store profitability. Maintain appropriate inventory levels through effective ordering and rotation, ensure pricing integrity and maintain category sets, mixing for profit as required. Refer complex issues to the owner and provide input into the performance management process. Carry out any other duties necessary to ensure courteous friendly service, competitively priced products and a store that meets hygiene standards. Requirements Previous management experience with the ability to manage people and work with minimal functional direction. Demonstrated understanding of critical success factors for the NoFrills concept as a discount food store focusing on low price image. Strong communication skills including verbal, written and active listening. Issue management skills: time management, interpersonal skills, conflict management, information gathering, problem solving and team building to develop collaborative working relationships. Open availability; flexibility to work days, nights, weekends and holidays according to business needs. Physically fit to lift upwards of 50 pounds using work‑safe guidelines. Salary & Benefits Hiring range: $48,000.00 – $55,000.00 per year. Competitive salary with a comprehensive company‑funded benefits package and performance bonus.
