Job Overview Join as an Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer – Tailings & Mine Waste at Klohn Crippen Berger in Toronto, ON or Sudbury, ON. One of the first 25 applicants for this role, you will help address some of the most complex mine waste and water challenges faced by the mining industry and work on some of the largest mine sites and tailings dams in the world. What you will do Work on local and global mining projects. Design tailings storage facilities for local and global mining projects. Engage with clients, colleagues and suppliers on environmentally focused field programs and design solutions. Use the latest industry software. Mentor staff through the methodologies of tailings storage facility design solutions. Build client rapport through project development, from feasibility through to mine closure. Expand your knowledge by attending conferences and trainings. Become an ambassador for, and potentially become an owner of, KCB. What we require A degree in civil engineering or geological engineering, with a track record of continued development. 5 to 10 years’ experience in geotechnical engineering. Eligibility to register as a professional engineer in Canada. Experience in slope stability and seepage analysis, dam design, earthworks and construction, site investigation, and laboratory testing of soils and rock. Ability to build relationships with multidisciplinary project-based teams. Experience in a safety-focused environment with near-miss and incident reporting requirements. Additional qualifications Experience in tailings management and dam safety, including good knowledge of applicable standards and guidelines. Experience in seismic analysis of dams and related software packages. Creative problem-solving and presentation skills. Ability to build rapport with clients, colleagues, and industry partners.
