Family Counsellor Join Alberta Health Services (now part of Recovery Alberta) as a Family Counsellor delivering Forensic Mental Health Services within Southern Alberta. The role will be based in Lethbridge Satellite office and will serve rural communities through a travelling clinic. Overview The Southern Community Geographic Team (CGT) provides specialised forensic mental health services to rural communities across southern Alberta. The Family Counsellor will conduct clinical assessments, deliver treatment, and provide counseling to legally mandated adults and adolescents. Working autonomously within an interdisciplinary team, you will design and implement individual and group interventions and coordinate with external justice agencies and other professionals. Responsibilities Conduct clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up for clients and their families. Provide clinical-focused consultation and liaison work with community resources. Collaborate with health care and community service providers to ensure continuity of care. Deliver psychosocial interventions and therapy (CBT, DBT, group, family therapy). Maintain liaisons with outside justice agencies and professionals. Qualifications Master’s degree in social work, psychology or related discipline. Active or eligible registration with an Alberta regulatory college (ACSW, CAP, CARNA, CRPNA). 1–3 years experience in community mental health (community or acute care psychiatric setting). Proficiency with BCLS‑HCP certification. Strong interpersonal, communication, interviewing and writing skills. In‑depth knowledge of mental health/mental illness and non‑violent crisis intervention. Preferred Qualifications Experience with sexual and domestic violence offenders. Knowledge of justice and legal systems. Recent forensic mental health or community partner engagement experience.
