The Opportunity As a Senior Architectural Job Captain , you will play a central role in guiding project execution—from early design development through construction. You will lead the production of complex architectural packages, coordinate multi‑disciplinary teams, drive quality and consistency, and shape technical outcomes across multiple projects. This role is ideal for an aspiring professional who is ready to take on leadership, mentor others, and influence the delivery of projects that serve real community needs. You will report directly to the Principal Architect and work closely with leadership to elevate project quality, workflow efficiency, and team development. What You Will Lead Integrated Design Leadership Lead the complete development of design development and construction documentation packages. Assess and organize key project information, including site surveys and preliminary design criteria. Direct and coordinate all consultant, engineering, and contractor inputs to ensure a fully integrated and aligned design. Specify materials, systems, and assemblies with a focus on performance, durability, and sustainability. Manage project timelines using cloud‑based tools and anticipate project needs proactively. Advanced Technical & Drawing Production Produce highly detailed architectural drawings and 3D models in Revit and AutoCAD that set the standard for quality. Ensure full compliance with the Ontario Building Code and relevant regulations. Oversee interdisciplinary coordination of schedules, details, and specifications. Prepare polished, presentation‑ready design packages for milestone submissions and client review. Quality Assurance, Coordination & Construction Support Lead consultant and contractor coordination meetings; manage documentation, follow‑up, and accountability. Review and redline drawings to ensure precision, completeness, and strong design intent. Conduct thorough quality‑control reviews during design and construction phases. Support construction administration through site visits, RFIs, submittal reviews, and detailed site reports. Assist with all permitting and authority liaison requirements. Mentor junior and intermediate team members, shaping their technical development and design thinking. Assign, review, and oversee production tasks to ensure consistency and growth across the team. Facilitate open communication, collaborative problem‑solving, and a positive team environment. Lead internal and external project meetings that keep teams focused, organized, and aligned. What You Bring Required Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or related field; OAA licensure or advanced progress toward licensure preferred. Multiple years of architectural experience with strong OBC knowledge and hands‑on construction documentation expertise. Proven ability to lead technical production and multi‑disciplinary coordination. Strong working knowledge of the Ontario Building Code and construction practices suited to Northern climates and cultures. Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office. Advanced communication skills—written, verbal, and interpersonal. Experience with permitting and approvals processes. Valid Ontario driver’s license and personal vehicle access. Assets Certifications such as LEED AP, PMP, CCM, or CAPM. Experience with Enscape, Sketchup and other software. Experience with healthcare or long‑term care projects.
