My client is looking for a highly skilled Actuarial Director of Reserving to lead their reserving team and continue their legacy of financial strength and stability.


Position Overview:

The Director of Reserving will oversee the reserving process for the personal line of business within the company. This role requires a strategic leader with deep expertise in actuarial science and reserving methodologies to ensure accurate and compliant reserve calculations. The Director will work closely with senior management to provide insights into financial performance, risk management, and capital planning.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of actuaries and reserving professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Reserving Strategy: Develop and implement reserving strategies and methodologies that align with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation and presentation of reserve estimates for financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Risk Assessment: Analyze and interpret loss reserves, identifying trends, potential issues, and opportunities for improving reserve accuracy and efficiency.


Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 6 years of reserving experience, with a proven track record in leadership and complex reserve analysis.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field. Advanced professional designations (e.g., Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries, Associate of the Society of Actuaries) are highly preferred.
  • Skills:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Proficiency in actuarial software, statistical tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of reserving techniques, financial reporting standards, and regulatory requirements in the insurance industry.
