We are recruiting for an Environmental, Health & Safety Manager with a client in the food production industry. Reporting into the Director, Environmental Health & Safety, the Manager will be responsible for evaluating and monitoring safety risks, developing and implementing strategies to control risks in the workplace, developing “best in class” safety standards, supporting Environmental & Sustainability initiatives, and more.


Key Accountabilities:


  • Provide balanced support to 2 facilities (production and DC) and their respective site teams.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to Environment Health & Safety team (Specialists, Coordinators, and Administrators).
  • Collaborate with the team on the development and maintenance of continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with fellow Environment, Health & Safety Manager.
  • Develop, maintain, and ensure compliance with organizational policies, standards, and legislated requirements.
  • Develop and maintain training programs.
  • Develop and implement strategies that create “safety engagement” among employees and the Plant Management team.
  • Investigate injuries, incidents, and injuries.
  • Support the implementation of Safety Excellence Program Initiatives.
  • Provide and organize Health & Safety training for employees.
  • Provide Contractor Management support and collaborate with Operations to reduce risk on contractor-related work.
  • Collaborate with Operations to develop and improve safe work procedures and resolve any machine deficiencies.
  • Support Environmental and Sustainability initiatives in collaboration with Senior Manager, Environment & Sustainability.
  • Support and maintain site emergency response programs.
  • Actively participate in internal and external audits and workplace inspections.
  • Additional responsibilities as required.


Qualifications required:

  • 5 - 10 years of progressive Environmental, Health & Safety experience in a food production or manufacturing environment.
  • 5 years of demonstrated success leading and coaching high-performance teams.
  • Excellent knowledge of OH&SA and WSIB, and application of legislative and industry safety standards.
  • University Degree or College Diploma in Health & Safety or related field.
  • Safety Designation: CRSP, CHSC, or CSP.
  • Excellent organizational, prioritization, and communication skills.
