Lecturer – Education Focused, School of Optometry Employment Type: Part-time (0.4 FTE/14 hours per week) Duration: 1-year Fixed Term, starting January 2025 Remuneration: $127,947 – $150,830 base (+17% superannuation and annual leave loading) pro rata Location: Kensington, NSW Role Overview UNSW’s Education Focused roles (EF) enable academics to specialise in education and devote their time to delivering high-quality teaching and pursuing initiatives to enhance the educational experience of our students. It is a prestigious stream with no direct reports. Key Responsibilities Craft and deliver engaging lectures and tutorials across undergraduate and postgraduate programs Develop innovative teaching strategies, including blended learning, online platforms, and curriculum design Manage course administration, coordinate subjects, advise students, and ensure rigorous assessment standards Lead initiatives to enhance student learning and career‑focused education Support educational quality improvement including Assurance of Learning themes and accreditation Mentor and support peers in teaching development Selection Criteria / Qualifications Registered as an Optometrist in Australia with expertise in ocular therapeutics and clinical optometry Demonstrated ability in teaching and curriculum development at undergraduate and postgraduate levels Experience with blended/online teaching and implementation of educational technologies Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence Evidence of professional development of teaching practice, including mentoring and peer support Excellent interpersonal skills and support for diverse student body and equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives Benefits & Culture 17% superannuation and leave loading Flexible working Additional 3 days of leave over the Christmas Period Access to lifelong learning and career development opportunities Progressive HR practices How to Apply Click Apply now to submit your application online.
