Precast Chief Engineer

Precast Chief Engineer Lead structural design, detailing, and engineering analysis of precast and prestressed concrete elements in compliance with CSA and Ontario Building Code standards. Oversee project-specific designs, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective project delivery. Key Responsibilities Lead and review the design of precast/prestressed members, connections, and lifting/handling systems. Ensure all designs comply with CSA A23.3, CSA A23.4, and OBC requirements. Collaborate with design, drafting, estimating, production, and erection teams throughout the project lifecycle. Liaise with architects, structural engineers of record, and clients for design coordination and approval. Review shop drawings and perform structural checks during each drafting phase. Develop and maintain Khalsa standard connection and design libraries. Mentor and train junior engineers, ensuring quality and technical accuracy. Support production and site teams by resolving engineering-related issues and preparing field reports as needed. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering. Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario (or eligibility with PEO). 5–10 years of experience in precast/prestressed concrete design and detailing. In-depth knowledge of Canadian design codes: CSA A23.3, CSA A23.4, CSA S16, and OBC. Proficiency in MathCAD, FEA software, and Microsoft Office. Working knowledge of AutoCAD (Revit, and Tekla experience is an asset). Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills. Strong ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
