Student, Process Engineering – Inter Pipeline Location: Heartland Petrochemical Complex (HPC), Strathcona County, 30 km from Edmonton. Join Inter Pipeline’s world‑scale integrated complex to contribute to the only Canadian single‑site propane dehydrogenation (PDH) and polypropylene (PP) plant. In this 8‑ to 12‑month term (starting January 2026), you will report to the Staff Process Engineer – Heartland and perform process‑engineering tasks while gaining hands‑on experience at a modern petrochemical facility. Key Activities & Responsibilities Plant performance monitoring and optimization – conduct heat‑exchanger performance studies and plant performance analysis. Operations engineering support – troubleshoot processes, perform field surveys, and walk through P&ID drawings. Process engineering evaluation and design for projects – develop HYSYS simulations, conduct equipment sizing, and perform hydraulic modeling. Process safety management – perform risk assessments, monitor key performance indicators, and prepare for HAZOP re‑validations. Additional duties as needed, including opportunity evaluations, MOC development, and PI Vision trend and report development. Education, Skills & Experience Bachelor of Chemical Engineering student. Quick learner who can take on new challenges. Collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Creative and critical thinker, capable of solving problems. Good understanding of sound engineering and business fundamentals. Adaptable and embraces change. Hours & Schedule Schedule: 9 hours per day, every other Friday off. Candidate must have reliable transportation (no bus services). Pre‑employment requirements include medical, drug & alcohol, and criminal record checks. Candidates must also comply with company policies regarding the proper use of personal protective equipment.
