Position Description & Scope: The Control Systems Software Designer will be responsible for designing and developing control system software for industrial HVAC systems used in the food industry. While a basic understanding of HVAC systems is required, this role offers opportunities to grow and develop expertise in this specialized area. The ideal candidate will collaborate with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to create reliable, user-friendly control systems that meet the stringent requirements of food industry applications. Position Duties & Responsibilities: Software Development: Assist in designing and developing control system software for industrial HVAC systems. Implement control algorithms to regulate temperature, humidity, and air quality in food processing environments. Develop user interfaces for monitoring and controlling HVAC systems, ensuring ease of use. System Integration: Support the integration of control system software with hardware components, sensors, and actuators. Assist in ensuring proper communication between HVAC systems and other industrial control systems, such as SCADA or PLCs. Testing and Validation: Participate in testing and validation activities to ensure control systems function as intended. Assist in simulations and on-site testing to validate control strategies and system performance. Collaboration and Documentation: Work closely with experienced engineers, gaining knowledge and expertise in HVAC systems and control design. Assist in creating documentation for control system design, including software architecture and control logic. Provide support to field service teams during system installation and troubleshooting. Continuous Learning and Improvement: Engage in continuous learning to deepen your understanding of HVAC systems and control software. Stay informed about the latest industry trends and advancements in control systems technology. Contribute to the improvement of existing control systems by suggesting enhancements or identifying issues. Qualifications: Practical skill, knowledge and prior accomplishments in the following functional areas are desired: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related field and 2+ years of experience, or College Diploma in Engineering Technology, or a related field and 5+ years of experience in control systems software design. Basic understanding of industrial HVAC systems, with a willingness to learn and develop expertise. Experience with PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Schneider, Allen-Bradley) Understanding of programming languages such as C/C++, Python, or similar is an asset Experience with HMI/SCADA systems and industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, BACnet, Ethernet/IP). Basic knowledge of control theory and automation principles. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Good communication and teamwork skills, with a willingness to collaborate and learn from senior engineers. Ability to travel to customer sites as needed for system commissioning and support.
