Our banking client is seeking a Data Governance Analyst to support enterprise data quality, governance, and compliance initiatives across the bank. The ideal candidate is an exceptionally detail-oriented , strategic , and highly critical thinker who can break down complex data problems, assess risks, and provide clear, actionable insights. This contract begins at 3 months, with the potential for extension based on project needs. Key Responsibilities Support data governance activities including data quality assessments, metadata management, issue tracking, and remediation. Analyze datasets to identify gaps, inconsistencies, and quality risks, and recommend corrective actions. Build and maintain simple Excel models , reports, and templates to monitor and manage data quality metrics. Collaborate with business and technology partners to ensure adherence to enterprise data governance standards. Assist in documenting data definitions, data flows, lineage, and policies. Review and interpret data-related requirements, ensuring compliance with internal controls and industry regulations. Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to stakeholders at all levels. Support deadlines across multiple workstreams in a fast-paced banking environment. Required Skills & Experience Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving skills (major focus of the role). Extremely detail-oriented , with strong analytical discipline. Intermediate Excel skills — able to run simple models, perform lookups, manage datasets, and troubleshoot basic issues. Basic coding understanding — familiarity with programming concepts, logic, data structures; no specific language required. Data governance experience — understanding of data quality frameworks, metadata, lineage, and governance processes. Strong communication skills — able to translate complex data findings into clear, concise messages. Proven ability to meet strict deadlines and manage competing priorities. Banking or financial services experience (ideal). Nice to Have Experience with Power Automate or other automation tools. Exposure to enterprise data management platforms or data catalog tools.
