About this role As a QA focused Senior Software Engineer at Aerostrat, you'll play a critical part in helping us build high quality experiences for our customers. You will build test automation and any related infrastructure needed to better understand the state of our product, validate user flows, improve the end-user experience, and integrate quality into every stage of development. Our QA software engineers ensure that customers continue to love our product through improvements in reliability, performance, security and more. Having at least five (5) years of experience with test automation at all levels (unit/integration/API/E2E) and test infrastructure is mandatory. Expertise with the Playwright framework is critical. At least four (4) years of direct work experience writing high-quality production-level code in Python is required. Additionally, a deep understanding of other types of testing such as performance, security, accessibility and more is also important. As a member of our small but growing engineering team, you'll need to be a self-motivated, high-impact and driven individual that goes out of your way to learn about and produce the best solutions for our customers. You will have no direct reports, but you will serve as a technical mentor and subject matter expert, helping to guide QA practices and raise the overall quality bar for the organization. Because our team is so lean, you will have a real opportunity to contribute to the direction of the product and see your ideas in make it into production on a regular basis. In this role, you will... Learn everything there is to know about aviation maintenance planning through our on-boarding process (so don't worry if you do not have any experience in this industry) Lead the design and scaling of API/E2E test automation to ensure our products are in the best state possible for our customers Architect other test and quality infrastructure to improve quality of our product (perf, security, mobile, etc.) Coordinate bug bashes and manually test our product where automation gaps exist Play a crucial role in the development of new features through design feedback, proposing acceptance criteria, and testing new features as they are developed Deliver reliable, high-quality, expert-level code with speed and care Utilize our monitoring/APM tools to analyze metrics, investigate issues and propose changes to improve our performance and user experience Investigate complex customer issues to identify bugs, verify reproduction steps and propose fixes This role is great for you if... You have five (5) or more years of experience developing API/E2E test automation using Playwright You have strong software engineering fundamentals and have at least four (4) years of experience writing high quality production-level code in Python C# or JavaScript are an added bonus You have experience with building QA/testing infrastructure (ex. setting test environments, automating performance/security testing tools, developing QA-related telemetry and reports, etc.) You love trying to break products and have experience testing complex web applications (bonus points for experience testing WebGL) You have expertise in manual testing to cover gaps in test automation You love digging deep into complex problems and solving real customer issues You have a positive attitude and communication style because we've learned that excellent written communication and attitude go a long way for a remote team Compensation Title: Software Engineer - QA Senior Salary: Dependent Upon Experience and Location Software Engineer QA - Senior Range: $110k - $145k CAD Job Type: Full-time; Remote Schedule: TBD Benefits Competitive compensation Working remotely with flexible hours Company paid health, vision and dental insurance 15 days of PTO, 10 sick days, and 10 holidays per year RRSP with matching Monthly internet and mobile phone credits Travel discounts with our corporate travel provider $110,000 - $145,000 a year Why Aerostrat As a Software Engineer- QA at Aerostrat, you will be a critical part of our growth journey.
