Software Test Engineer

Job Description Software Test Engineer The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining automated test cases and test scripts / procedures to ensure the quality and reliability of our systems. This role requires strong technical expertise, excellent problem‑solving abilities, and a commitment to continuous improvement. The Test Engineer will work closely with cross‑functional teams, including developers, network engineers, and QA, to deliver high‑quality testing solutions. Responsibilities Develop and expand automated tests using Python and Pytest for software and system verification. Create test plans and test cases for an automated test environment based on requirements and stories. Perform regression, integration, sanity, smoke, blackbox, and whitebox testing. Conduct root cause analysis and resolve network and software integration issues. Ensure complete test coverage of software features. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to achieve project goals and deliver high‑quality solutions. Provide mentorship and guidance to team members. Ensure scalability and performance optimization of testing processes. Implement advanced monitoring and reporting solutions. Essential Skills Proficiency in Python scripting and development, with 6+ years of experience. Experience with automated testing tools such as Pytest, Slash, or Robot. Experience creating test plans and test cases for automated test environments. Experience testing software on embedded systems. Familiarity with GRPC, software development, GitLab, and Git. Experience in test plan development and automation testing. Additional Skills & Qualifications Comfortable with 'greenfield' development and building a project / feature from the ground up. Protobuf for messaging between various segments. Understanding of Agile methodologies. Proficiency in Docker networking. Familiarity with Linux command lines and shell scripting. Work Environment The position requires working on‑site for 4 days per week, with Wednesdays from home. Their office is located in downtown Ottawa. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Ottawa, Ontario. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $72.00 / hr.
