Job Details Contract – Up to 12 months Hybrid work arrangement Shift: Days Travel: 50% Location: Whitby, ON Deadline to apply: November 18, 2025 Salary: $1,704.68 – $2,924.93 per week Education: 4‑year university degree in a relevant field of science or engineering Job Overview Ontario Power Generation (OPG) seeks a Health Physicist to provide expert radiation protection services across its nuclear plants and support facilities. The role reports to the Manager, Radiation Protection Programs & Field Support and involves safeguarding station personnel, the public, and the environment from radiation hazards. Key Accountabilities Assist the Supervisor with operations of the internal and external dosimetry service and estimation of internal and external doses in unusual situations. Provide information and advice to design groups for radiation‑shielding, instrumentation, personal protective equipment, and other ALARA initiatives. Conduct radiation investigations, including controlling the transfer of radioactive material. Develop and revise Radiation Protection Procedures for possible approval and use across OPG’s nuclear stations. Interpret regulations and policy, offering technical assistance to operations and approving radiation protection methods and equipment. Investigate non‑routine radiation‑protection problems and recommend resolutions; support environmental radiological measurements near the station. Participate in development and delivery of training courses and materials, and help maintain continuous training through re‑examination of plant personnel. Prepare routine reports on radiological conditions and assist in preparing reports for external regulatory authorities and for OPG’s technical documentation. Address radiation problems specific to reactor units at multi‑unit nuclear stations with ongoing effectiveness assessments; perform other related duties as required. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree (4 years) in an appropriate science or engineering discipline. Six to eight years of relevant experience. Certification as a Radiation Safety Officer or Health Physicist, experience with radioactive waste classification, or background in electronics are considered assets.
