Contract Duration: 12 months, with possibility of extension Working Hours: Monday–Friday, 35 hours per week Additional Requirement: Consultants must use their own personal computers Job Title: Senior Architect Overview The Senior Architect plays a key leadership role within the Architectural Design Section, overseeing project teams and ensuring high-quality design solutions for new construction and renovation projects across transit facilities. This position is responsible for delivering technically accurate, safe, constructible, maintainable, cost-effective, and timely architectural designs that support transit operations and long-term infrastructure needs. Key Responsibilities Lead, coordinate, and review the work of Design Architects and other assigned staff. Provide full architectural design services for transit-related facilities. Prepare and oversee code compliance reviews for both new and existing facilities. Develop technical design reports, including schematic and preliminary design packages. Create work plans, coordinate inputs, and assign tasks to team members. Lead the development and preparation of complete contract documentation. Review, approve, and sign off on architectural documentation as required. Site & Construction Support Conduct site reviews and submit reports in accordance with building code and permit requirements. Provide construction-phase support, including reviewing shop drawings and submittals. Perform regular field inspections and prepare deficiency reports. Coordinate and justify anticipated contract changes. Technical & Standards Support Support updates to architectural standards as assigned. Conduct design and development reviews, including: Reviewing and commenting on consultant and Engineering Division design documents. Reviewing development proposals to assess potential impacts on standards. Maintain active registration with the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA). Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, plus a minimum of 15 years of relevant architectural experience , including demonstrated work on transit-related facilities. Full membership with the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA) is mandatory. Proven experience leading complex, multi-disciplinary design projects .
