Come and be a part of this success About Potash The Jansen project in Saskatchewan, Canada is set to become one of the largest potash mines in the world and is located approximately 140 kilometers east of Saskatoon. BHP’s CAD$14 billion (US$10.5 billion) investment in the Jansen project will deliver a potash mine in Saskatchewan designed to maximize sustainability. As the largest investment in Saskatchewan’s history, Jansen is expected to generate approximately 5,500 workforce opportunities during construction and 900 long-term roles. Jansen's construction will take place over several years with first production planned for mid-2027. Once fully ramped up, Jansen is expected to have an initial production capacity of approximately 8.5 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa), with the potential to produce 16 to 17 Mtpa in future stages. Purpose Reporting to the Superintendent Mine Planning, the Specialist Mining Engineer builds mine production plans and schedules, contributing to design and coordinating infield execution, to deliver productivity targets in tactical time horizons for an underground potash mine site. About the Role Develop and deliver 2-week to 3-month plans for mine development and continuous miner production in accordance with strategic or business objectives (aligned to 2-year plan), with roll out to stakeholders and coordination with infield teams. Analyze data to identify relevant changes, drivers and inputs critical to developing robust forecasting and estimating costs. Suggest corrections for risks impacting safety and compliance to plan. Interpret data from the outcomes and performance of mining operations, challenging inputs and suggesting iterations to the strategic mine plan to improve safety and target productivity, creating improved alignment between the tactical and strategic planning horizons. Deliver safe and geotechnical compliant underground mine designs in accordance with jurisdictional guidelines and functional/operational inputs to support safe mine progression. Facilitate cross-functional integration of readiness activities across mine planning to ensure seamless transition into operations. Identify and manage readiness risks, gaps, and improvement opportunities through structured assessments and stakeholder engagement. Ensure readiness deliverables are tracked, reported, and validated through structured tools and dashboards, enabling transparent progress monitoring and informed decision-making. Work Location Downtown, Saskatoon office, with frequent travel to the Jansen Mine Site. 40 hours per week. Hybrid working (flexible, shared workstations and a combination of office and work from home) is standard for BHP. Located in Saskatchewan, Canada. About You Postsecondary degree in Mine Engineering, Geological Engineering, or similar discipline. Extended years of experience in underground mine engineering. Member of a Recognized Professional Organization, eligible for APEGS. Strategic thinker with a practical, execution-focused mindset and a commitment to continuous improvement. Proficient in leveraging digital tools and dashboards to track readiness progress, support data-informed decision-making, and ensure transparency across teams.
