We are seeking a results-driven and technically proficient Principal Mining Engineer to lead and support the operational and strategic performance of open-pit mining operations across our portfolio, as well as future underground operations. This role provides expertise in mine design, planning, and execution, while ensuring alignment with corporate standards and operational best practices. The successful candidate will meet the criteria to act as a Qualified Person (QP) under NI 43‑101 and will be responsible for contributing to technical reports and disclosures. Job Responsibilities Provide technical leadership and oversight for all open-pit and underground mine planning and operations across sites. Support the development and review of life-of-mine (LOM) plans, budgets, and operating strategies. Review and optimize pit/stope designs, scheduling, haulage profiles, and equipment utilization. Benchmark operations and projects against comparables. Ensure open-pit and underground operations are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with corporate, legal, and environmental standards. Act as a Qualified Person (QP) under NI 43‑101 for the review and sign‑off of technical disclosures, including Mineral Reserve estimates. Collaborate with site and corporate teams in strategic mine planning, technical due diligence, and project evaluations. Lead and contribute to peer reviews, audits, and benchmarking initiatives across the business. Mentor and develop site-based mining engineers and planners to ensure technical excellence and talent growth. Interface with geology, geotechnical, metallurgy, and ESG functions to ensure integration of mining strategies with overall business objectives. Provide guidance on mining-related capital projects, including equipment selection, infrastructure design, and contractor management. Job Qualifications This position requires a bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline; a Masters or MBA is an asset. This position requires a minimum of fifteen (15) years of progressive experience in open-pit mining, including a minimum of five (5) years in a senior or corporate-level role. Must be registered (or eligible for registration) as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in a Canadian province. Must meet the criteria of a Qualified Person (QP) as defined by NI 43‑101. Proven experience with mine planning software (e.g., Surpac, Deswik, Whittle, or equivalent). Strong understanding of operational KPIs, mining economics, and cost management. Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and drive change across diverse teams. Willingness to travel internationally to support site operations as required. Experience in multi‑commodity operations (e.g., gold, copper, or base metals). Exposure to both greenfield and brownfield mining projects. Familiarity with mining operations in Canada and other international jurisdictions. Fluent in English. Proficiency in French would be considered an asset.
