Overview Mercer Marsh Benefits (MMB) has a fantastic opportunity to join our organization as a Health & Benefits Senior Actuarial Associate . This is a Hybrid position and can be based in either Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto or Quebec City. Simple select is our facility solution for small to mid-size employers leveraging carrier negotiated block arrangements designed to help clients attract and retain the talent needed to grow their business and keep their people healthy. This role focuses on behind-the-scenes work in our Simple select by Mercer Marsh Benefits SM Centre of Excellence. Responsibilities Serve as an ambassador for Simple select Partner with SME Leader to manage technical aspects of SME placement quotation, plan, experience monitoring and renewal insurer negotiations Collaborate with operations to ensure terms and conditions released to renewal methodologies and placement processes are implemented Guide the technical team through all placement processes Develop and improve efficiency by leveraging new technology Collaborate with Operational coordinator to develop procedural efficiencies and adapt newly launched technology Lead template development Lead educating all level team members on processes, procedures and new products Collaborate with Canadian Leadership on change management and day-to-day business operations Develop and coordinate local team education on new products and templates Manage relationships with internal consultants and respond to day-to-day inquiries Assist Leadership with quarterly insurer meetings and review products, quoting turnaround time, service agreements, product and competitor landscape Maintain National Mercer client databases Assist and lead team workflow meetings with People Leader Simple select - MMB block renewals: lead vendor block renewals analysis and negotiation Lead block renewal team to collect and review renewal data for accuracy and reasonableness Prepare templated client reports for local consulting teams Respond to questions from local teams related to the block renewal Simple select block Experience reports: maintain experience reporting calendar and lead data gathering to prepare templated reports Coordinate with teammates to ensure timely delivery of all experience reports Simple select - Templates: lead development of tools and templates for workflow, financial summaries and block renewals Suggest process improvements; liaise with local consultant teams to keep templates current Simple select - MMB marketing: oversee marketing requests from local consulting teams, ensure timely completion of templated reports, and peer-review teammate work Track outside panel offerings and report to Canadian Leadership Maintain block quote tracking tool and mentor the team Assign quote requests to the team and conduct peer reviews before sending to local consulting teams Track carrier inconsistencies for competitiveness and report to SME Leadership for quarterly insurer review Ensure negotiated terms and conditions are applied Qualifications Project management, ownership, and leadership experience 3-5 years of employee benefits experience Strong analytical skills; proficient in Excel, VBA, Alteryx; working knowledge of MS Office Knowledge of additional programming languages such as Python or SQL is an asset Strong knowledge of group benefit underwriting principles, placement methodologies and funding methods Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; bilingualism in French and English is an asset Ambitious, collaborative, and able to work under tight deadlines and changing client needs Intellectual curiosity and desire to develop new skills Ability to work independently and in teams; strong organizational skills and attention to detail LLQP designation is an asset; Life licenses as required by provincial regulations and Mercer policies Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or equivalent Knowledge of Alteryx or similar software Preferred/Standout Qualities Track record in customer service and managing multiple concurrent deliverables Ability to communicate health and benefit concepts to a broad range of colleagues and internal clients Why join our team Professional development opportunities, interesting work, and supportive leaders Inclusive culture with opportunities to create impact for colleagues, clients and communities Competitive benefits and rewards, with opportunities for career growth Mercer, a business of Marsh McLennan (NYSE: MMC), is a global leader in risk, strategy and people.
