Richmond Hospital is a fully accredited, 228 acute care bed facility serving a local population of 240,000 with an additional catchment area of almost 120,000. The position is a full-time, permanent opportunity to work across multiple geriatric psychiatry programs in Richmond. The city of Richmond is located on the Pacific Coast of British Columbia, near downtown Vancouver, Vancouver International Airport and the U.S. border. Responsibilities Provide an innovative and comprehensive array of psychiatric assessment, treatment and rehabilitation services to support recovery for individuals with complex, co-morbid mental health, addiction and physical health issues. Work within the Richmond Older Adult Mental Health Services program, including outreach consultation and follow-up care with a multidisciplinary team. Deliver specialized psychiatric care for adults aged 65 and older through outpatient clinics, hospital consultations, and liaison services, including rapid access assessments for urgent referrals. Participate in the Richmond Hospital Geriatric Psychiatry Consult Service and the Richmond Psychiatry Consult Liaison Program, focusing on medical/surgical ward patients and discharge planning. Collaborate with treating teams, supervise medical students and residents as required, and participate in on-call duties as part of the department roster. Contribute to program planning, implementation and evaluation of new initiatives; engage in education and potential research projects and group work. Qualifications Current College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC) – Full license Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) – Mandatory Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC) – Desired Medical Degree with eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia Must hold / be eligible for specialist qualifications in psychiatry from the RCPSC Must hold / be eligible for Subspecialty certification in Geriatric Psychiatry or possess an accredited fellowship in geriatric psychiatry (Canada/US/UK/Australia/New Zealand) Eligibility for a clinical faculty appointment with the University of British Columbia, Faculty of Medicine is ideal Candidates must meet Vancouver Coastal Health credentialing requirements Demonstrated ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team; familiarity with Recovery and Psychosocial Rehabilitation principles Commitment to participate in health improvement and innovative care delivery methods Compensation & Scheduling The position provides 10 half-days of work per week in a blended billing model across the Older Adult outpatient ambulatory care program, Rapid Access Geriatric Psychiatry consults (0.4 FTE), Geriatric Consult-Liaison service (0.2 FTE) and Richmond Older Adult Mental Health Team (0.4 FTE).
