Position Summary Based out of Halifax, NS or New Glasgow, NS or Mississauga, ON, the Director, ESG Strategy & Reporting is responsible for providing leading development and implementation of Crombie’s environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategy and execution. This role oversees all aspects of ESG governance, reporting, data integrity, and performance management, ensuring alignment with recognized standards and best practices. The Director develops and maintains the ESG roadmap, oversees initiative tracking and disclosure, and acts as a key liaison across departments to embed ESG principles into business operations and decision-making. As a subject matter expert and strategic partner, the Director, ESG Strategy & Reporting brings a data‑driven and collaborative approach to advancing Crombie’s sustainability objectives, strengthening external credibility, and demonstrating measurable value creation through ESG performance. The Director, ESG Strategy & Reporting also : Leads development and implementation of a multi‑year ESG strategy and roadmap, including clear goals, performance indicators, and action plans aligned with corporate strategy. Leads the governance and oversight of the ESG program, ensuring consistency, accountability, and progress tracking across all initiatives. Oversees ESG reporting processes, including quarterly reporting to the Board, internal scorecards (for E, S, and G), and the annual ESG report Fosters cross‑departmental collaboration to ensure ESG is integrated into core business functions such as Operations, Development, Finance, People & Culture, and Communications. Serves as the internal champion for ESG principles, driving awareness, engagement, and accountability across the organization. Ensures data accuracy, consistency, and completeness in all ESG disclosures, working closely with internal teams and external partners. Leads third‑party assurance processes for ESG data and reporting, ensuring alignment with SASB, and other applicable standards. Maintains robust ESG policies, controls, and documentation to support regulatory compliance and investor expectations. Oversees integrity of ESG data management systems (e.g., Measurabl) and maintains ownership of the internal ESG SharePoint site to ensure data integrity and transparency. Provides oversight of environmental data and performance reporting across the portfolio, ensuring systems (Measurabl, Yardi, SharePoint) and processes support accurate tracking of energy, water, waste, and GHG outcomes, and that results from operational and capital activities are reflected in ESG reporting and long‑term planning. Establishes a return‑on‑investment (ROI) tracking process to measure the financial and operational impact of ESG initiatives. Ensures accurate and timely reporting against science‑based targets (SBTi) and other environmental performance commitments. Oversee the population of the GHG quantification tool, including downloading and validating data from Measurable to Excel to support GHG calculations and estimations. Owns and maintains Crombie’s Sustainable Development Policy, ensuring it reflects current best practices, regulatory requirements, and alignment with corporate ESG objectives. Oversees initiative tracking and analytics to evaluate progress and identify opportunities for continuous improvement. Maintains deep knowledge of ESG trends / technologies, peer practices, and evolving disclosure requirements by evaluating software solutions, engaging with industry peers, ensuring Crombie remains proactive and competitive. Serves as the primary point of contact for ESG rating agencies, investors, and industry associations. Supports the Communications and Investor Relations teams in the development of ESG‑related content for corporate communications (internal / external), stakeholder reports, and presentations. Represents the organization externally at ESG forums, conferences, and collaborative initiatives. Acts as a conduit for ESG collaboration and continuity across departments, ensuring strategic alignment and shared ownership of goals. Partners with Finance and Operations to integrate ESG considerations into investment decisions, risk assessments, and capital planning. Provides strategic review and quality assurance for all annual ESG reporting outputs, ensuring operational data accurately reflects corporate ESG performance and commitments. Collaborates with the Communications team to tell Crombie’s ESG story with credibility, transparency, and measurable results. People Leadership Ensures all team members have a clear understanding of corporate and departmental objectives and are held accountable to meet performance standards and objectives. Leads a team that is strategically aligned with and understands the organization’s strategy, is engaged, and represents Crombie guiding values. Engages across all levels of the organization to create and promote a safe and respectful work environment. Other special projects and tasks as assigned. The profile we are looking for Post‑secondary degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Business, Economics, or a related discipline. 7‑10 years of progressive experience in ESG, sustainability, or corporate responsibility, preferably in real estate, infrastructure, or asset management. Strong knowledge of ESG frameworks and standards (SASB, SBTi, etc.). Proven ability to design and implement ESG strategies, manage reporting and assurance processes, and oversee data management systems. Demonstrated leadership experience, including team development and cross‑functional influence. Exceptional analytical, organizational, and project management skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into actionable insights. Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience preparing reports and presentations for executive and Board audiences. Continuous learning and improvement mindset.
