These services include independent nursing services, administration of prescribed medical treatments, a leadership role within the health care team, and facilitation of patient/resident care coordination and discharge. The RN may also be responsible for directing other nurses, students, health care aides and support staff in the performance of patient/resident care. Collaboration with physicians and professional health staff in the facility and the community is required. The RN demonstrates a commitment to the Mission, Vision, Values, goals and objectives of the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority and Deer Lodge Centre, performs duties per health and safety regulations/guidelines, and notifies managers of any incidents or concerns that may harm individuals on the premises. Experience Experience with chronic illness, geriatrics and complex continuing care. Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate) Graduate of an approved Registered Nursing educational program. Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) certified nurses preferred. Certification/Licensure/Registration Maintain active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba. Active participation in professional associations such as the Association of Regulated Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM) preferred. Qualifications And Skills Demonstrates knowledge and support of: Vision, values, goals and objectives of the WRHA and Deer Lodge Centre. Centre's Mission Statement, Residents Bill of Rights and Code of Conduct. Personal Health Information Act (PHIA), WHMIS and Principles of Routine Practices. College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba Standards of Practice for Registered Nurses. Canadian Nurses Association Code of Ethics for Registered Nurses. Scope of practice as documented in the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA). Centre policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines. Nursing care knowledge related to geriatrics and complex continuing care. Roles and responsibilities of healthcare team members. Principles of delegation. Ability to prioritize care for an individual patient/resident or a group. Ability to delegate care appropriately and monitor outcomes. Ability to respond to multiple simultaneous demands. Ability to pursue self‑development opportunities. Ability to perform independently and as part of a team. Ability to adapt quickly to changing situations. Ability to maintain concentration with frequent interruptions. Ability to function in a demanding and stressful environment. Critical thinking/problem‑solving skills. Effective oral and written communication skills. Maintains confidentiality of patient/residents, families and staff. Physical Requirements Moderate to heavy physical effort required. This term position may end earlier as outlined in your collective agreement. This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
