Position Summary: We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Systems Technician to join our IT operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing advanced technical support, maintaining critical IT systems, and ensuring the reliability, availability, and security of enterprise infrastructure. This role requires strong hands‑on expertise in Windows 10/11, Office 365, Azure, Ubuntu Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, VMware vSphere ESXi, and networking technologies. The ideal candidate will be proactive, adaptable, and capable of handling complex technical challenges in a fast-paced environment. Key responsibilities: Provide advanced technical support for Windows 10/11, Office 365, Azure, and server environments (Ubuntu, Red Hat, Windows Server). Install, configure, and maintain physical and virtual servers, storage systems, and network devices. Support and manage VMware vSphere ESXi infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance. Administer user accounts, group policies, and permissions across hybrid environments. Perform system monitoring, patch management, and routine maintenance activities. Troubleshoot complex hardware, software, and networking issues, escalating when required. Assist in disaster recovery planning, testing, and implementation of backup solutions. Document technical procedures, troubleshooting guides, and system configurations. Provide mentorship and guidance to junior technicians and end-users. Ensure compliance with organizational IT policies and government security standards. Support audits, compliance initiatives, and alignment with industry best practices (NIST, Cyber Essentials, Protected B). Required qualifications: Strong experience with Windows 10 and Windows 11 administration and troubleshooting. Hands‑on expertise with Office 365 and Azure administration, including Exchange Online, Teams, and SharePoint. Proven experience in supporting Ubuntu Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and Windows Server environments. Strong skills in VMware vSphere ESXi administration and management. Strong skills in firewall configuration, VPNs, and advanced network troubleshooting. Strong skills in Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy management. Experience with backup, disaster recovery, and monitoring solutions. Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Strong scripting and automation skills (PowerShell). Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues to non‑technical users. Education & Experience: College diploma or bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent) with a minimum of 7 years of experience as a Systems Technician, Systems Administrator, or relevant IT support role. Security Clearance: Given the nature of our software development work, it is a condition of employment that the successful candidate receive the required security clearances. Successful candidates must be eligible for Controlled Goods Regulations Program (CGRP) government clearances and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). In addition, candidates must be able to obtain a Canadian Industrial Security Clearance to NATO SECRET level. Must be either a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada; Must have lived in Canada continuously for the past 10 years; Must not have a criminal record.
