Overview Join to apply for the Robotic Solutions Engineer (RSE) role at Apera AI . Apera AI is a Vancouver-based startup focused on robotics, AI, and machine vision technologies. We build breakthrough 4D Vision systems that help robots see and handle objects with human-like capability for challenging applications such as bin picking, sorting, packaging, and assembly. We are backed by VC funding and have received recognitions including the 2025 Frost & Sullivan Technology Innovation Leadership Award, the AAM Supplier Excellence Innovation Award, and the 2024 BC Tech “Company of the Year – Growth”. This role is about turning AI vision software into real-world automation. We’re hiring a Robotic Solutions Engineer (RSE) to bridge the gap between AI vision software and the hardest real-world automation applications. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on designing robotic vision solutions, troubleshooting complex integrations, and collaborating with field teams to help robots see, learn, and perform at scale. Responsibilities Consult and guide: Provide expert advice to field engineers and users from proof-of-concept to full production. Innovate and improve: Identify recurring challenges and lead long-term improvement projects to reduce setup time, increase uptime, or enhance reliability. Solve and stabilize: Diagnose and resolve complex field issues using structured troubleshooting, simulation, and AI-assisted diagnostics. Collaborate and create: Partner with Product and Engineering to turn insights into product improvements that scale globally. Document and enable: Write clear technical guides and internal documentation to accelerate future deployments. Learn and mentor: Share best practices with teammates through demos, briefings, and technical enablement sessions. What You’ll Do This is a hands-on engineering role, not theory. You’ll design robotic vision solutions, troubleshoot integrations, and work with our field team to enable robots to see, learn, and perform at scale. Why This Is a Career Move You’ll work at the intersection of robotics, AI vision, and applied problem-solving, across robot integration, calibration, and simulation. If you value hands-on engineering, innovation, and direct customer impact, this is the role for you. What Makes This Role Special Frontier of innovation: Directly connect AI vision technology to the machines powering modern manufacturing. Cross-discipline growth: Robotics, AI, computer vision, mechanical design, automation. Visible impact: Each project improves accuracy, speed, and reliability for real manufacturers. Influence on product direction: Field data and feedback will shape Apera’s roadmap. Why You’ll Love It Here Purpose with impact: You’ll help transform factories toward intelligent automation. Autonomy to explore: You’ll have room to experiment, iterate, and engineer effective solutions. Hybrid skill development: Build expertise across robotics, vision, and applied AI. Supportive culture: Fast, collaborative, and rigorous engineering environment. Qualifications Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in robotics, automation, or vision system integration. Bachelor’s or master’s degree (or equivalent) in mechanical, mechatronics, electrical, or systems engineering. Comfort with robot programming and simulation (e.g., FANUC, ABB, KUKA, UR, Yaskawa, or similar). Ability to troubleshoot system-level issues involving software and hardware. Proficiency in mechanical design for simulation and analysis. Excellent communication skills and confidence working directly with customers and multidisciplinary teams. Bonus: Experience with AI-driven vision systems or applying ML insights to automation. Why Apera? Purpose with impact: Deploy systems that are improving production right now. Compensation: Competitive salary in the CAD $100,000–$130,000 range, plus stock options and comprehensive benefits. Equity for every employee. Autonomy with support: Leadership opportunities with mentorship and resources to succeed. Growth at the edge: Exposure to AI, vision, and advanced automation.
