Have you ever dreamed of being a leader in the sports and entertainment sector? Join the Saint John Sea Dogs Hockey Club as our Director of Business Operations, leading all aspects of our business operations as we embark on our 20th season and beyond. Reporting to the President of the Saint John Sea Dogs, you’ll play a pivotal strategic leadership role in driving our organization's success. 


Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all business operations including Sponsorship, Sales, Game Day Operations, Marketing and Content, Retail, and Budgeting.


  • Lead and inspire a team to achieve targets and objectives, fostering a culture of strategic thinking, trust, and professionalism.


  • Utilize financial acumen to analyze numbers, provide insights, and effectively manage budgets to achieve financial targets.


  • Collaborate closely with colleagues on both the business operations team and hockey operations team to ensure alignment and maximize organizational efficiency.


  • Work closely with key stakeholders including major sponsors, the League office, suppliers, facility management, and more.


  • Solve problems and drive innovation to address challenges and seize opportunities.


  • Embrace the entrepreneurial environment, bringing structure and process to drive sales targets, strategic planning, and reporting.


  • Act as a committed and visible member of the community, engaging with stakeholders, spending time with our fans, and building relationships to deepen our impact.


Requirements:

  • Proven experience in leadership roles, preferably in the sports and entertainment industry.


  • Passion for hockey and a commitment to excellence.


  • Financial acumen with the ability to analyze numbers, manage budgets, and achieve targets.


  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.


  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required.


  • Bilingualism is considered an asset.


  • Experience in evaluating small-medium size business opportunities is advantageous.


  • Problem-solving mindset with a track record of driving results.


  • Entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to inspire and manage a team to perform and deliver on targets and objectives.


  • Team player and strategic thinker with strong values, high work ethic, and the ability to execute with excellence.


  • Minimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree. Preferred qualifications include a master's degree.
