The incumbent oversees the Client Services and System Support Units. These IT operations are staffed by IT professionals in various IT classification levels ranging from Information Technology Associate to Information Technology Supervisor II, who are responsible for end‑user desktop and mobile computers support, Local Area Network Support, Server Hosting, Storage Management, IT Procurement, Asset Management, etc. The incumbent has full management responsibility for standards, processes, procedures for the analysis, design, implementation, maintenance, operation and procurement of hardware and software for desktops and mobile devices. The incumbent has full management organizing, planning, coordinating, directing and controlling all activities associated with the day‑to‑day IT operations of the District 12 Santa Ana Office and supported region. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on Caltrans’s evolving telework policy. Caltrans supports telework, recognizing that in‑person attendance may be required based on operational needs. Employees are expected to be able to report to their worksites with minimum notification if an urgent need arises. The selected candidate will be required to commute to the headquartered location as needed to meet operational needs. Business travel may be required and reimbursement considers an employee’s designated headquartered location, primary residence, and may be subject to CalHR regulations or applicable bargaining unit contract provisions. Minimum Qualifications: Two years of experience as an Information Technology Supervisor I or one year as an Information Technology Supervisor II Six years of information technology experience performing a variety of progressively responsible technical, analytical, or supervisory tasks, including at least two years in a lead capacity on highly complex or specialized IT systems or services Education: a master’s or doctorate may substitute for four years of experience, a bachelor’s for three years, an associate’s for one year; only one degree may be used for substitution; must include 15 semester units (or 22.5 quarter units) of IT or closely related coursework Examination Information: This examination will utilize an evaluation of each candidate’s experience and education compared to a standard developed from the Class Specification.
