Including, but not limited to: HS Classification, Support operations/ release department with important changes for PGA's and other OGD requirements, FTA qualification and analysis, valuation assessment, customs verification and audit assistance, blankets amends and refunds, customs rulings, upselling consulting services generating revenue opportunities etc.Key Duties and Responsibilities:Support Operations release with PGA inquires when necessary.Assign proper tariff classifications including end-use provisions of Chapter 99 the Customs Tariff.Provide support and solutions to both external and internal clients regarding technical customs regulatory inquires.Claim blanket refunds, drawbacks, remissions, rulings.Assist clients during CBSA Compliance Verification and post-audit requirements.Identify tax recovery opportunities (customs duties, GST, drawbacks, excise tax etc.)Perform mock Compliance Verifications audits with clients to identify and reduce possible compliance risks.Develop and manage new and existing clients' commodity databases.Ensure compliance with OGD regulations.Ensure compliance with SIMA.Perform Free Trade certificate reviews for completeness and provide feedback to clients.Qualify goods under Free Trade AgreementsPresent training seminars/webinars as required to internal/external customers.Advise clients on regulation inquiries such as origin, valuation, marking, temporary imports, Special Import Measures ActIdentify potential clients for upselling consulting services understanding the needs, challenges, and opportunities within your existing client base as well as targeting new clients who may benefit from additional services.Various other duties may be requiredQualifications:Minimum of 5 years of experience working as Customs Compliance, Customs Specialist, Customs Consulting, related areasKnowledge and familiarity in the related regulatory laws, including OGD requirements, Customs valuation, GST/HST application, temporary import regulations, etc.Database mining/ manipulation at an advanced level with Excel and pivot tablesStrong technical knowledge of CBSA, OGD regulations, import/export permitsStrong Consultative, organizational, problem Solving and decision making skillsStrong research/analytical skills with high attention to detailsAbility to exercise good judgment to solve problemsExcellent customer service, verbal, and written communication skills in EnglishWell-organized and self-motivatedAbility to remain calm in stressful situations, work under pressure and meet deadlinesEducation/Certifications:High School DiplomaCustoms Certified Specialist (CCS)CTCS – assetProfessional license - asset**What We Offer**Health Benefits (Medical, Dental & Vision Coverage)RRSP/DPSP Plan with company matchingPaid Time Off (vacation & sick time)Opportunities for career growth and skill enhancementWe thank all applicants for their interest in a career with Nippon Express.
