Young Engineers Oakville inspires the next generation of innovators, creators, and changemakers. We are on a mission to open the world of engineering to children, one class at a time.
Dash Sports is a recreational multi-sport program provider for kids ages 2-10 years old. We create a fun, safe, and encouraging environment for kids to learn and play a variety of sports.
Summary
We are seeking a highly responsible, energetic, and experienced individual to join our team of coaches in Oakville. Our coaches are integral to our business by way of leading classes, introducing children to STEM concepts and new sports, and engaging the children in a fun and positive manner. We are looking for dependable individuals with experience working with children between the ages of 2-10 years old. A successful instructor will make learning fun, create a non-competitive environment, and communicate effectively with parents, staff and kids alike.
NOTE: We are currently only looking for support with one-off PA Day Camps, winter camps, summer camps, and birthday parties, as we currently don't have vacancies for weekly classes.
Responsibilities Include:
- Lead sports classes for children ages 5-12
- Teach kids about engineering and coding concepts and guide them on building lego-style models
- Teach the basics of various sports to kids
- Ensure a fun and engaging learning environment
- Arrive 15 minutes early and stay 15 minutes after class for student dismissal
- Manage and maintain issued equipment kits and bags for classes
- Provide short summary of training activities conducted during the class, for submission to parents
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have
- Passion for teaching and working with children
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Exceptional organization and time management skills
- Experience working with children/families
- Eagerness to learn about new concepts and ideas
- Having a car and being able to drive will be considered an asset
- A background in IT or engineering will be considered an asset
- Advanced knowledge about sports is not required, but basic knowledge will be considered an asset; we encourage you to apply even if you don't have a background in sports coaching
- CPR/First Aid training certificate
- Background check and/or vulnerable sector police check certificate will be required
