Position Description

Reporting directly to the CEO, the Finance Manager,

is a full-time permanent role based at Macaloney's Island Distillery and Twa Dogs Brewery, located at 761 Enterprise Crescent in Victoria, BC. Currently this is an all-encompassing role, but in the future will be expected to oversee a small team.  This key role will oversee, manage, and drive all financial aspects of the business, including finance, accounting, and statutory compliance and reporting.

This role is ideal for a results-oriented, hands-on professional with strong communication skills and strategic thinking ability. Key Responsibilities

• Lead all financial reporting processes, including annual external audits, quarterly board packages, and monthly management financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow projections).
• Own a smooth, timely month-end process that supports real-time operational decisions and maintain all supporting accounting schedules and subledgers (bank reconciliations, inventory costing, production models, etc.).
• Develop and maintain the annual budget and long-term financial forecasts with CEO and various team leaders; track results against budget and provide monthly variance analysis
• Oversee accounts receivable to ensure timely collections and minimize uncollectible balances, coordinating with the Order Desk to process.
• Oversee accounts payable, including semi-monthly reporting, FX management, and invoice processing (QBO/EKOS) – currently includes entering all invoices and payment remittance preparation.
• Provide ad hoc financial analysis and detailed insights into trends, costs, and budget compliance to support management decisions.
• Prepare all tax filings: income tax, GST, PST, excise, foreign (VAT, UK income tax), and SR&ED claims.
• Prepare statutory and regulatory reporting for local, provincial and federal authorities.

Qualifications

• Proven track record in financial leadership roles with hands-on operational experience.
• 5-10 years of progressive finance experience
• CPA or equivalent designation preferred, MBA an asset
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, including financial reporting under IFRS.
• Experience working in alcohol manufacturing, distribution or a highly regulated environment is considered an asset but not required.
• Experience with other software packages including QuickBooks & EKOS is also considered an asset.
