Supervised Instructor Therapist

Location: Toronto, GTA, Peel, Halton, York, Simcoe, *Remote and In-home/community-based setting

Job Type: Part-Time - Casual

Schedule: Monday to Saturday, 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Position Summary

We are looking for a dedicated and energetic Supervised Instructor Therapist (SIT) to join our expanding team. Reporting to a Registered Behaviour Analyst (RBA), the SIT is responsible for directly implementing skill-acquisition and behaviour-reduction plans for clients aged 16 or under. The ideal candidate is passionate about child development, knowledgeable in the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), and committed to the progress and well-being of each child.

Key Responsibilities

  • Therapy Session Implementation:
  • Review client profiles and Behaviour Intervention Plans (BIPs) to deliver enriched, one-on-one behaviour analytic therapy sessions.
  • Implement skill acquisition programs as prescribed by the supervising Behaviour Analyst, utilizing methods such as Discrete Trial Training (DTT), Natural Environment Teaching (NET), and task analysis.
  • Skillfully manage and respond to challenging behaviours by implementing behaviour-reduction protocols and de-escalation strategies.
  • Data Collection & Documentation:
  • Accurately and reliably collect data during sessions (e.g., frequency, duration, interval recording) using our designated data collection systems.
  • Write objective, concise, and professional session notes at the end of each session, detailing client progress and relevant observations.
  • Collaboration & Communication:
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with parents/caregivers regarding client progress.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including Behaviour Analysts, Speech-Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, and other professionals when required.
  • Actively participate in team meetings, providing valuable input on client programming and progress.
  • Communicate relevant client updates with RBA.
  • Professional Development & Operational Initiative:
  • Demonstrate a strong desire to learn by actively seeking and integrating feedback from supervisors.
  • Take initiative in preparing therapy materials, organizing the learning environment, and planning engaging activities.
  • Engage in ongoing staff training, professional development workshops, and operational meetings as scheduled.

Qualifications & Skills

Required:

  • A diploma or degree in a related field, such as Child and Youth Care, Early Childhood Education, Psychology, Social Work, or Developmental Services Worker.
  • Knowledge of childhood neurodevelopmental disorders and diagnosis, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and other developmental disabilities.
  • Experience providing support to neurodiverse children and youth.
  • A foundational understanding of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) principles and interventions.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel).
  • Available to work with clients Monday to Saturday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
  • Must be able to provide a recent and clear Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Must have a valid Ontario driver's license with access to a reliable vehicle that holds current automobile insurance.
  • Current certification in First Aid/CPR. Willingness to obtain certification is required.
  • Current certification in a crisis management system (e.g., CPI, NVCI). Willingness to obtain certification is required.

Assets (Preferred but not required):

  • Direct experience in an ABA setting.
  • Behaviour Technician (BHT) training or 40-hour RBT training course
  • 1-2 years of experience implementing ABA programs
  • Experience providing direct 1-1 services in clients' homes
