Job Description
We are currently seeking a Project Controls Lead to join our team, based out of our Edmonton office. The Project Controls Lead will manage the Project Controls department functions and provide technical and administrative guidance for Bantrel or designated areas of responsibility within a Bantrel business unit. They will participate in corporate policy development as required. Formulate and present new concepts for Project Controls department policies within Bantrel and in concert with Bechtel.

Duties & Responsibilities
These duties can vary depending on whether the role is in the home office or field. Project requirements will dictate which of the following duties is to be performed.
- Supports formation and implementation of the Project Controls Plan for the assigned project.
- Assists in developing project WBS and establishing project code of accounts.
- Supports the re-cast of project estimates into manageable cost control budgets per project requirements.
- Collects jobhour data and maintains the project jobhour control system.
- Sets-up and maintains project control software. Implements requirements for cost recording and reporting.
- Formulates and prepares job-hour and cost related reports, as directed.
- Monitors the project schedule and provides schedule updates.
- Supports system set-up and monitors construction progress. Provides progress and performance reports. Supports system set-up and monitors progress of field contractors.
- Supports set-up and roll-out of the project change management system (trend program).
- Maintains cost budgets and accurate cost forecasts utilizing the project change management system.
- Supports, sets-up and performs ongoing cash flow analysis.
- Supports system set-up and maintains field quantity unit rate reports. Monitors performance factors.
- Assists in preparing cost data for proposals and contract negotiations.
- Assists with project financial reporting per Bantrel and/or client requirements.
- Gathers historical project data for close-out reporting. Supports preparation of the Project Historical Report.
Qualifications
- Engineering, construction, or business degree or technical diploma and relevant work experience.
- 5+ years of experience in a construction environment is required.
- Demonstrable continuing self-development relative to the management control of major capital expenditure projects in mining, infrastructure or energy and petrochemical processing industries.
- Excellent understanding of project management control concepts.
- Typically, over 10 years' relevant experience working towards a Project Controls Lead or Manager position with increasing levels of responsibility on projects ranging from small to very large.
- Significant exposure to multi-project programs and experience in the resolution of the associated execution challenges.
- In-depth experience in directing project controls functions, including cost estimating, project control and analysis, and planning & scheduling functions, in the home office and field.
- Excellent knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and startup work processes.
- Considerable experience interacting with corporate management functions and client representatives at a senior level, and on a regular basis.
- Skilled in oral and written communication, with a proven ability to present Project Controls capabilities and plans to senior management and clients.
- Advanced knowledge of project controls tools and systems; conversant with industry and discipline related trends in performance management.
- Demonstrable skill in formulating and presenting innovative concepts for delivery of project controls, planning and scheduling, and estimating services and product.
