About the Program Instructor Role
The Inspire Program Instructor will work with the SEW Program Delivery Team to support the implementation of Inspire Cohorts, as well as other program delivery needs as requested. They will work closely with the other Inspire Program staff and report to the Nunavut Territory Lead. They will also work with SEW staff across Canada as needed to deliver Inspire Programs.
Inspire is a 12 week program geared towards rural youth to help guide them in building foundational leadership and entrepreneurship skills through interactive in-person workshops, inspiring guests, and regular coaching and mentoring. Throughout the program, participants discover how to launch their own enterprise, gain meaningful work skills, and learn from experienced instructors and business experts from their communities.
As this role will be involved in a new partnership with Ascend, this program instructor will also be working with employers to create participant placements. This will require training with the Inspire Program Manager. Main Responsibilities: Instruction:
- Support in the delivery of 3 in-person workshop sessions per week for 12-weeks
- Facilitate participant learning through workshops and mentoring.
- Integrate local knowledge, examples and guest speakers into the program.
- Adapt to participants' unique needs and learning levels.
- Create an inclusive, engaging, and positive learning environment.
Coordination:
- Support in participant recruitment, including supporting communications, marketing and outreach before and during the program
- Assist participants on the program platforms (google workspace, an online learning platform, other apps)
- Participate in identifying, securing and scheduling local guest speakers, subject-matter experts and entrepreneurs
- Lead and complete program reporting and evaluation requirements
Employer Engagement
- Work closely with community sector employers to identify and/or create job placement opportunities that align with the skills and interests of program participants.
- Act as a bridge between employers and participants, ensuring clear communication of job expectations, skill requirements, and any special accommodations needed.
- Support youth in the transition to employment, helping them navigate challenges in the workplace and promoting positive outcomes for both participants and employers.
- Provide post-placement support, including job retention strategies, performance feedback, and conflict resolution assistance if necessary.
Candidate Profile Required Experience:
- Minimum 2-4 years in program facilitation or coordination
- Experience in Nonprofits and or community initiatives
- Experience supporting program participants
- Lived experience in Northern and Indigenous communities
- Background in economic development, education innovation, workforce training, or social enterprise
- Familiarity with digital tools, working virtually and document management
- Experience with supporting youth who face barriers such as mental health challenges, poverty and or community violence
